Lee Buchwalder is a self-taught composer with a thorough comprehension of the musical past and a clear vision of the future. He was born in Connecticut in 1975 and moved to Wisconsin shortly thereafter, where he spent his early years.

As a child, Lee was naturally drawn to the music of the great masters. His desire to learn was such that he taught himself the rudiments of music notation, essentially in reverse, by comparing the piano pieces he was already playing by ear with their respective musical scores.

Mr. Buchwalder’s compositional style is marked by a strong sense of structure, which serves to integrate the elements of melody, harmony, and rhythm into music that truly seems to have been solved, rather than written.

Lee currently resides in Long Island, New York, where he teaches both piano and composition.
