Biography

Leafs style screams of her California roots: tights, Chucks, and ripped jean skirts. Her songwriting bares her soul and knows no pretenses. Her voice bends notes without breaking them. Leafs style screams of her California roots: tights, Chucks, and ripped jean skirts. Her songwriting bares her soul and knows no pretenses. Her voice bends notes without breaking them. Like the scat of a jazz singer with the abandon of a rock chick, she and her acoustic guitar have both electrified and soothed fans and first-time listeners. She began tinkering with guitar strings at age four, under the tutelage of artistic parents who were singer/songwriters and filmmakers. By the time she was in high school, Leaf recorded and independently released her first solo album Seventeen and co-wrote the theme song, with her mother, to her parents film Virgin Again, a Cannes Film Festival showing. A graduate of Syracuse University, with a degree in Rhetorical Studies and a Minor in Music Industry studies, Leaf has made her mark on the music scene in her native Los Angeles and her current home, Atlanta, GA. Leaf has been featured on sitcom Girlfriends, and has shared the stage with Stevie Wonder, Common, Roy Ayers, Arrested Development, Dionne Farris, and spoken word artist Saul Williams. She also hosts a monthly Atlanta talent showcase Leaf Cool Eclectic while continuing to write and perform her original music and released an indepedent EP called Leaf Cool Eclectic in 2008. In early 2009, at the behest of her older brother, Leaf dropped in on an audition, for what she had no idea would become a major break for her. After breezing through the audition with nothing but her guitar, original music, and unique personality, Leaf was chosen as a cast member for BETs Welcome to Dreamland, spearheaded by Def Jam Hip Hop recording artist Vawn, hip hop/R&B producers, Jazze Pha and Drumma Boy. After several weeks of competition including a live performance judged by industry experts, Leaf was chosen as the winner. Now hailed the Queen of Dreamland, Leaf is currently in studio working on her first major label release. Her music draws its strength from the live show experience, where audiences can be converted to fans by seeing Leaf share her soul and life through the music.
