Lauren Shaye was born on October 14th in Washington, DC and raised in Glen Dale, Maryland. Lauren, under the guidance of her father, who is a pastor, grew up in the church. Lauren Shaye was born on October 14th in Washington, DC and raised in Glen Dale, Maryland. Lauren, under the guidance of her father, who is a pastor, grew up in the church. Lauren has been a talented singer all of her life. Beginning at the age of 4, it was in the church singing gospel songs where Lauren began developing her vocal abilities. By the age of 11, Lauren began writing journals where eventually they became songs. Mary Ann Myles, Lauren’s mother, was a renowned successful singer and musician who heavenly influenced Lauren’s vocal development. In 1997, Lauren’s mother died of Breast Cancer and Lauren relocated with family to Wilmington, Delaware. This devastating loss and transition in Lauren’s life made her motivated to create and write lyrics from heartache and pain. Lauren Shaye began to be more engaged into her music by becoming an accomplished songwriter. Writing lyrics not only came from the pains and joys of her heart, but from the realities of jarring life experiences. It was her mother’s love, memory and her beliefs that made Lauren become determined to turn singing and songwriting into a successful career. By 2000, Lauren Shaye became more passionate about her music and even decided to take up some hip-hop, jazz, and modern dance classes. Lauren started to incorporate her dance skills into her singing performance. With encouragement from family and friends, she began performing in various talent shows. Since 2004, Lauren has been exploring and developing her acting skills which helped land a starring role in the stage play, “Why Men Cheat”, created and directed by Priest T. Cephas, which had sold out performances in Delaware, Philadelphia, DC, and Virginia. This opportunity was the push for Lauren to step out of her comfort zone and allowed her to gain more confidence and strength as an entertainer. Lauren has been able to utilize her life experiences of joy and sorrow to connect with people through her music and live performances. Lauren Shaye has become a singer, songwriter, dancer, and actress to look out for.
