Biography

Laura Lisbeth has been raising her voice to the ether since she was five, belting out Beatles’ tunes in her hometown on the western Kansas plains. She was a diminutive but gutsy “pistol”, who raised eyebrows and riled nuns due to her incorrigible sense of humor and knack for self-expression. Today Laura draws from the tradition of guitar-driven folk to deliver songs of stunning beauty and emotional complexity. Laura has danced with fire and lived to tell about it. She knows that dark road you travel at night. She’s been to the “southernmost point”, and sings of it with haunting clarity. Her music – a blend of Americana/Pop/Folk - and her sound have prompted comparisons to that of Jewell, Aimee Mann and Melissa Etheridge. Her live performances are the best way to experience her music: with arresting vocals, she delivers lyrics as bold and unflinching as she is. But thanks to the humor and sensitivity underlying her poetry, the result is an irresistible mix that keeps audiences coming back for more.
