The Late Night Drive Story, 2007 When does a Late Night Drive last over four years? It does when It’s an original blend of blues, jazz and adult rock from the Milwaukee band, Late Night Drive. The band took its name from a song written by front man and songwriter, Mike Woods. This should answer the age old question, “what came first, the band name or the song title”? We still don’t know which came first, the chicken or the egg? But that one is best left to philosophers and agricultural experts. The song and the band’s music both reflect the feeling of freedom the open road and great music can bring on a Late Night Drive. It doesn’t matter where the road leads because the destination is a mood not a place. You can’t mapquest the journey, but when you get there its worth whatever a gallon of gas is going for these days. Since the very beginning, the decision was made to concentrate on original material…wherever the lyric or melody went. Genre doesn’t matter. The first song was a tune Mike wrote for the first practice called “Glass Half Full.” That session led to a careful building of the group’s song repertoire and several trips into the studio. A 5 song EP was completed in 2003 and an album has been in the works since February, 2006. Time and money permitting, look for its completion in 2007. The soundtrack for your Late Night Drive is provided by: Mike Woods…… Lead and backing vocals, rhythm guitar and songwriter Quoting Marshall Crenshaw, “I have suffered for my art, now its your turn.” Join the LND Highway Patrol. Jenny Peterson…Lead and backing vocals and songwriter Part Amy Lee, part Shakira and a little bit Stewie Griffin. John Boyd………..Lead Guitar and songwriter Plays with the style of George Harrison and heart of Robert Johnson. Scott Shane……..Drums and percussion Great timing. Doesn’t even need an alarm clock in the morning…and no, he doesn’t sleep until noon. Jeff Coburn……..Bass Guitar David Bowie and Justin Hayward are the reason Jeff pursued music.
