South Florida just got hotter! KP da Money Man is heating things up from the bottom. KP, 25 year-old Michael Pierre, was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, FL. His smooth yet gritty southern-style hip hop draws influences from artists like Master P, Hot Boyz, UGK, and Trick Daddy. KP has just released his newest mixtape Independent Money: Reloaded, which includes the single “Moving On (Got It)” featuring Universal Republic recording artist Black Dada. The single will also be featured on the “It Is What It Is” mixtape series, a compilation of emerging underground artists. KP was always fascinated with music growing up and developed a taste for hip hop at a young age. By the age of 15 KP had dozens of notebooks full of his rhymes. When he was 16 he was recruited by his older brother and some friends to form his first group, the Grave Yard Boyz (GYB’z). After the group broke up KP was quickly picked up by local indie label Play House Records. KP Da Money Man released his first official compilation called "Life is a Struggle" with Playhouse and he soon became the face of the label. His quick success led him to traveling with New Orleans rapper and superstar Juvenile and his UTP click and recording several collaborative works such as "Around My Way" with Skip (of UTP), and "Do What You Do" with Wacko (of UTP). ). Unfortunately at the height of his newfound career, KP Da Money Man was arrested and was facing 15-25 years in a state correctional facility. Upon release KP viewed the world from a new perspective and developed a hunger to be better than ever. He decided to take matters into his own hands and started “All-In Records” with his friends. All-In printed and distributed 5,000 copies of his mixtape titled “No Longer Waiting” in Broward and Dade Counties. Then they went to New York City and distributed another 10,000 and played for a crowd of over 8,000 people at 1st Annual Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. His popularity in New York got his mixtape into the hands of Diplomats CEO Jim Jones. Jim Jones took KP to recording sessions and had KP open up for him in NYC at Club Exit for over 2,000 screaming fans. In May of 2009 KP released his latest mixtape, Independent Money. The album was well received in Atlanta and KP frequently commuted from Florida to promote and record. He teamed up with Dominic Easter to make the video for his hit single “Get It”, which is getting more plays on Youtube everyday. This single was well received and earned praise from Local and Underground DJs, such as G-Unit/Shadyville DJ Epps, and 92.7’s DJ Mark T. Thanks to the success of “Get It” the mixtape has sold over 5,000 copies thus far. It has been getting airplay on underground radio and in clubs all over South Florida and Atlanta, as well as Montreal, Canada. Expect to see and hear more from KP da Money Man soon.
