California Gay Marriage
On Thursday, May 15, 2008 the California Supreme Court voted 4-3 to outlaw discrimation in our state and allow Gay Marriages. Upon hearing the news, I will admit, I was both elated and cautious. Elated, because, after 21 plus years, I can finally legitimize my relationship with my Domestic Partner; JohnnyRey.
Cautious, because I know there will be a major backlash. It seems that everytime a group of minorities gains more freedoms, there’s a larger group of hate mongers rallying to deny them. They use every trick in the book to perpetuate their fears. We’ve heard all the arguments against Gay Marriage before, and once again we have to hear all their B.S..
The fact of the matter is this. Me marrying my partner will not affect anybodys life what so ever. Just like someone elses marriage doesn’t affect my life. And yet, Gay Marriage will be responsible for the next big earthquake to hit California, it will be responsible for all the wildfires this summer, and of course, the next terrorist attack. How ludicrous!
Last time I checked. It was straight couples who raised the majority of prisoners in this counrty. It is straight couples who raised the majority of the drug users and pushers in our schools today. It is straight couples who raised the majority of the killers, child molesters and thieves roaming our streets today. It was straight couples who raised the Hitlers, the Dahmers and all the other sickos who once lived amongst us. It is straight couples who are responsible for the divorce rate in this country hovering around 50%. And it is a straight couple responsible for raising our current President of the United States. Sanctity of Marriage my ass. Swingers and swappers, anybody? philandering, anybody? Straight couples, straight couples.
We gay people just want the same opportunity to ruin this country as the the straights have had for 200 plus years. Vote No on discrimination in November!
