Unified by vocalist and lead guitarist James Nicholas, rhythm guitarist Shaun Zisler, bassist Johnny LaRose, and percussionist Kyle McAlpine, Kings In Pieces was formed within the outskirts of Detroit, Michigan, in 2007. Until late 2008 Kings In Pieces (K.I.P.) was seen playing many historic venues in Detroit “Rock City.” Solidifying the fact of being one of Michigan’s most respected rock bands, Kings In Pieces received many honors such as the title of Michigan’s #1 unsigned rock band. Spotted on the Detroit scene with such acts as Framing Hanley, Tantric, Sponge, and Limp Bizkit’s Wes Borland, K.I.P. proved to be a high class act. Along with the economic crash of Detroit, the music scene of “The Rock City” was also left in an extreme state of melancholy. The feeling of hitting a glass-ceiling of their hometown overwhelmed the band’s members, influencing them to make a life alternating decision and relocate the band to Nashville, Tennessee. Upon arrival to “Music City” in late 2008, Kings In Pieces was altruistically welcomed by their new hometown. Quenching the yen of Nashville’s rock scene, K.I.P. was the second most requested band of the area (behind Framing Hanley) in just three months after their arrival. Kings In Pieces also received nominations for “Best New Artist,” “People’s Choice,” and “Band of the Year.” Priding themselves on their critically acclaimed live performances, K.I.P. can be found playing both rocking electric shows and intimate acoustic sets. Currently, the band is recording their new EP “Lies To Abide By” with producers Robert Venable (formally of Evanescence) and Rob Coates. In collaboration the producers have worked with such bands and band members from Creed, Pillar, P.O.D., Kutless, Megadeath, INXS, Disciple, and many more. The EP will include over ten anthems of all original Kings In Pieces material. Each radio-friendly track is layered with relatable lyrics, perfect pitch vocals, moving solos, and a powerful rhythm. Featuring currently released single “Die For Me,” Kings In Pieces’ “Lies To Abide By” is scheduled to be complete in 2010.
