What sparked the start of Karaib?

Well the guys were always passionate by music.

A few years back, while Steve was in college in Tampa, FL he played in two bands (Barikad and E-motion) as a hobby. It runs in the family; his brother Didier (Sansasyon), his cousin Michael (Ti-doz), his uncle Claudy (Turbulence).

Reginald performed on several occasions with the group Ti-doz as a backup singer.

Kiki, until 2005, played the keyboard for Jacmel’s renowned band Les Invincibles de Jacmel. He is a longtime friend of Ishmael.

Melinda not too long ago released her debut single entitled " Ekspire".

When Steve and Reginald longtime friends (since kindergarten) met again in Montreal they would gather around play instruments and sing from time to time. Ishmael used to join in and one day decided to bring Kiki. After doing it for a while, it just seemed natural for them to put their hours of jam session to good use. In February 2007, that’s when the idea of forming Karaib came. The name fits perfectly the band’s objective: to bring a Caribbean flavor and some much needed heat in Canada. Soon after, they began to recruit the other members.

Short term goal
Make a first good impression at the grand premiere.
Get the Montreal crowd’s seal of approval.
Create a buzz in the industry.

Long term goal
Put an album out.
Be very active in different markets particularly MTL (we all know how difficult it can be for local bands)
Be the band that Montreal can be proud of.
