"I want people to feel what I feel" - Juss
At age eleven [11], Juss' mother was murdered on August 5th 1994. She was gunned down in her
own home and he witnessed the entire event and yet over comes adversities. Never looking back on what once became the darkest point in his life, Juss will not play vitcim. About ten [10] years later, his father passes away.
"I cope by writing and performing. Without this I don't know where I'd be" - Juss
By age 18, Juss moved to New York City to pursue a music career. He left his small hometown [Poughkeepsie] to tackle
the biggest city he could imagine. He committed himself performing at small showcases and free events.
It wasn't enough to hold him financially, so he packed his things and moved back home for awhile. Nothing good came
of that. In Feburary 2006, after disagreements with family, Juss took a huge gamble and moved back to New York City
with only thirteen [13] dollars left after buying the train ticket to Harlem. He stayed with friends, strangers
and even slept in public bathrooms, subways, and unknown business offices.
"...I was holding my ground on not moving back home. I couldn't eat for days at a time because I was broke. And
when I did get a few dollars I'd buy those $1.99 bags of chips and split it for breakfast and dinner. Water was
my best friend." - Juss
Enduring homelessness briefly, Juss eventually rose to the occasion and got his life back inorder snatching up
jobs at fast food resturants, retail clothing stores and hotels. He put his music to the side for awhile
to get things straighten out to survive in the gritty city.
"I've been through alot and I wouldn't change the experiences that I've had. I know going through these
obstacles - It's for a reason. I can definitely say I'm a stronger individual." - Juss
In 2010, Juss is ready to release his debut [EP] Album entitled "Holdin' Water. He signed himself to his
own independent venture, Penjot Music Group. He also released his first official single "Is It Me" on
iTunes and Amazon.com, including many other downloading outlets.
"Holdin' Water" is all about a release - Something that just can't be held. We all can relate
to that. Whether it's a good feeling or something bad, we have to get it off our chest.
So release it and hold it no longer!" - Juss
