Portrait of julialucafo
"Just listen to her lyrics. There is no way I could express the emotions that she does when I was her age, hell I'm not sure I can now. She came into the studio and took over my heart as I am sure she will yours." -Micheal Teach, CAU

Julia Lucafo was born in the south suburbs of Chicago. She was born into a family of music, theatre, and dance. Her home was filled with creative and musical inspirations. Julia's biggest influence was her Dad, a recording artist in the 70's with the band Heartsfield on Mercury and Columbia Records. She received her first guitar at the age of eight. By thirteen she entered a poetry contest, won, and became a published poet. That's is when she began writing lyrics to her music and playing the guitar. She also won most enthusiastic and best female vocalist that same year. Julia writes all her own music, lyrics, and melodies. Much of what she writes is about personal experiences, trials, and tribulations. She received an honorable mention and a runner up placement in the Song Of The Year song and lyric competition, which receives entries from all over the world. Most recently she performed at a benefit with the recording band Heartsfield and was honored to perform her song "Count To Ten" with David Ragsdale, the violinist/guitarist from the world renowned band Kansas. David also played on her demo CD. Julia recorded a podcast show at the Chicago Acoustic Underground Studios with Micheal Teach who said, "She came into my studio and took over my heart". Julia recorded a live show with Tom Lounges at XROCK Radio 103.9. She was asked to return and perform a show. On December first Julia traveled to Austin Texas where she competed in the famecast competition. Famecast.com is a world wide online competition to find America's top talent. Julia was one of the top five at the end of the competition and was able to go to Austin where she performed at Stubbs BBQ. Julia performed a Singer Spotlight Unplugged at the Uncommon Ground, Chicago's Best Coffee House and recognized for hosting touring musicians. She has many shows set to be scheduled in the Chicago area. There will be updates on her upcoming shows, podcast links, and air dates, as well as her release date of her new CD set to come out this summer. She is also an actress and has shot four short films and a commercial and is set to film a CD/DVD for Big Kidz Radio where she will sing and star in the music video. Julia is already a prolific songwriter and musician. She uses finely crafted words to describe emotions far beyond her years. "Her strong, strident, voice demands the audience to listen to what she has to say, and surprisingly there is much to learn from this young lady. She is truly a voice of her generation. Her words touch the very heart and soul of the youth that remains inside all of us".
