LATEST REVIEW - 4DaSoul.com, 8/9/08
Listening to the album in its entirety, I would have to say that J. Phoenix shouldn’t be looked over any longer. Masterpiece is a beautifully written album that combines different sounds of soul, R&B with touches of jazz and a hint of classical…? That’s right! Each track, he is able to deliver to us heartfelt yet truthful lyrics that one can only feel connected to. This debut album will clearly have people buzzing and raving about J. Phoenix and the musical talent this man possesses. Every track delivers a message of hope, love, and empowerment, while listening to beautiful vocals that we can only attempt to mimic. With non-stop play, there will be no need for the forward/ skip button. The title of the album, clearly speaks for it’s self.

RECENT REVIEWS
"Phoenix has a smooth, sexy Eric Benet vibrato and a Jill Scott vibe, and writes lyrics of life, love, and social consciousness. Beautiful ballads on this CD are "Maybe One Day," "Just Another Memory," and "Reflections Of You." All are solid and bring together Phoenix's appreciation for the past with a strong sense of the present. J. Phoenix’s CD is a “Masterpiece.”

"Masterpiece contains many possible hits and great songs, but four in particular stand out for me. First, the song Sweet Freedom flows amazingly well and shows off the artist’s writing prowess. As a matter of fact, the entire album is one of the most well-written I’ve heard in a long time. Three other musical gems on the record are Hate To Love You, For the People, and Heart of a Soldier, all of which I could imagine hearing time after time on some of the more prominent R&B radio stations throughout the country. Count on 2008 to be the year of the breakout of future megastar J. Phoenix."

“A friend of mine at work told me about this up and coming artist so I thought I'd give it a try! I can NOT stop listening to him. My favorite song is Masterpiece and I'll tell ya' -if I ever get married, this is going to be my wedding song! Highly Recommended!”

MASTERPIECE
Releasing my debut CD, MASTERPIECE. was one of the most rewarding acts of my life, and afforded me the opportunity to work with some of the most talented and interesting producers in the industry. You can learn more about them at my official website.
Things are going very well. My album is selling in the US, Europe and Asia, my performances have been well attended, I recently had a cut on a pop album in Korea, and I have a few cuts coming up at the top of 2008. The official, all-out release of the album wil take place in June '08.
Life is good and I'm enjoying my work. I hope you enjoy it too.
A&Rs, DJs and The Dancefloor
The A&Rs Get Me…….I’m just not sure they know it. Let me share a lil sumpin’ with you. Like most songwriters I get my share of passes; and the reasons vary. In the past it’s been the artist is not going in this direction, we’re looking for something a little more uptempo, or we’re looking for something with more hook and less message.
But lately I’ve been hearing that my songs don’t sound like everything else on the radio; and that my songs are a perfect fit for film, television and advertising. This is where I say, “you do get me.” True, I don’t sing like everyone else on the radio. I have a style of my own; and, like film and television, my songwriting is about storytelling, not just coming up with a hook to keep the club bouncing.
