Written 9/20: Many of you have been receiving my messages about one of my husband’s best friends, Jorge Gonzalez (musician/producer from Miami, went to Berklee College of Music). He’s been battling Leukemia for over two years… I’m sad to say that the fight ended last night. Needless to say, we were not expecting this right now. Our thoughts, prayers & love are with his wife, Paloma, and their family. Jorge & Paloma are such examples of strength & positivity! And in music, he was on top of it, always going for it 110%!! I aspire to be more like that… They are very inspiring people.

I have to say that I was overwhelmed by the response from my friends here on OurStage. What a special group of people – many of you took the time to read his story. And many of you wrote me personal messages. A sincere thank you for all your support for Jorge. I’ve been passing everything on to them and also sharing your messages with my husband, Ale. He thanks you too.

This is what Ale wrote on his fb page: Mi amigo, mi hermano no mas dolor para ti. Muchas gracias a todos los que apoyaron a Jorge Gonzalez. Te quiero y te extraño hermano. Descansa en paz. My friend, my brother no more pain for you. Thank you very much to all of you who helped Jorge Gonzalez. I love you and I miss you brother. Rest in peace.

A well said facebook post from a friend: So saddened by the loss of a life and angered at the INEXCUSABLE denial for medical treatment in this country for one who was not only eligible, but with desperately little time to wait; and ultimately, is now lost. My heart is broken….
