As a Hip Hop artist, Mr. Jonez is an authentic talent dedicated to excelling in the MC craft. When you listen to his music, the first thing you’ll notice is that his verses are imaginative, compelling, and cinematic, more like mini movies that immediately captivate and hold your attention. He has been rapping since age 11 when his cousin introduced him to the art of storytelling. Raised with two brothers by his mother, Mr. Jonez grew up in Georgetown, OH. Wanting to impact an audience much larger than his small, Midwestern hometown, Mr. Jonez found prominence in nightclubs throughout Cincinnati. Some proud pacesetting moments in his budding rap career include an appearance at Cincinnati’s Legacy Lounge in support of victims of Hurricane Katrina, and a private party for NBA player, Brian Grant. Offstage, Mr. Jonez ignited the airwaves of WIZF 101.1 FM’s highly rated program, Spit-Fire Friday’s Freestyle. A red-hot remix of “Compromise” featured Raphael Saadiq and became such a popular request on 101.1 FM that Mr. Jonez was named Artist of the Week on DJ Big Greg’s Buckie Naked Style Show during July 2007. The single soon earned spins from radio stations in Cleveland, OH and Louisville, KY. Mr. Jonez also received support from cable’s Music Choice and Ozone Magazine, a leading national publication focused on street Hip Hop culture. With such a momentous following built in such a short time, he expects his CD, Mr. Jonez: The Beginning to make enormous impact in the Hip Hop industry. In addition to working on the album, he is shooting the video for “Compromise,” and is writing a cookbook—yes, a cookbook—and it’s all about soup. Musically, he hopes his flavor makes you indulge and enjoy what he’s bringing. Press play and peep the surreal lyrics he drops on “Compromise,” a gritty tale of a baby mama drama that grows fatal. On “Love Letta,” Mr. Jonez writes a “three page letter” to a woman with swinging hips and a lingering Chanel scent in a way that will remind listeners of 2Pac’s suave approach that made women notice both his swagger and his soulfulness. These are just two tracks from his highly anticipated CD, Mr. Jonez: The Beginning, which features guest performances from Raphael Saddiq and Bagga Marley (a legacy of reggae icon, Bob Marley).
