J.Stone’s Bio: J.Stone was born Johnston Antonio McKnuckles on June 1, 1983 in San Antonio, TX to Johnnie and Rhoda McKnuckles. He is the eldest of several children with 2 younger sisters and 1 younger brother on both his mother and fathers side. J.Stone was adopted when his mother remarried to her second husband Mark Anthony Greenhow, legally changing his name to Johnston Antonio Greenhow. Johnston started singing and song writing at the age of 4. He was originally inspired by the powerhouse ballad “Hungry Eyes” one afternoon as he sat in the living room watching MTV. He was later inspired by the smash hit “Hold On To The Night” written and performed by the very talented Richard Marx. All throughout grade, middle and high school, Johnston sang in and attended choir classes. For he knew they would later enable him to use the teachings he learned to apply to his vocal training. Johnston is a very diverse, multi-talented Artist/Entertainer influenced by a large variety of musicians and genres. Equipped and gifted with a wide array of musical knowledge along with his harmonic sounds. J.Stone’s heartfelt lyrics are wrapped in a smooth old school R&B style blend, topped with a cool, refreshing, yet classically pop tone suitable for listeners of all ages. So, mixed with his charm and inviting personality, as well as accompanied by his distinct and very unique vocal sound. It is safe to say he can truly have a class of his own. J.Stone is an amazing individual who mixes four decades of musical influences into his own emotionally altered interpretation of R&B/ Pop and Soul. But J.Stone was also influenced by artist of every genre. Musicians such as Toby Keith, The Stylistics, Garth Brooks, The Five Satins, Journey, Bon Jovi, Rascal Flats, Jodeci, 112, R. Kelly, New Edition, Boyz II Men, All 4 One, Justin Timberlake, NKOTB, Neyo, Trey Songs, and many more… He has worked with artists and producers such as Felton Pilot and Shawn Phillips. Felton Pilot is one of the singer/songwriters for the old school R&B/ Soul group Confunkshun who had hits back in the 70’s & 80’s such as “Loves Train” and “Straight From The Heart”. Mentor and close friend Shawn Phillips did background vocals as well as touring with such artists as The Gap Band and Cameo, not to mention countless others. So many people have contributed to the musical growth of this artist and for that he would like to say “Thank you to all.” In closing, with the sky as the limit, undying determination and his unwavering belief in the power that music has to reach and change the hearts and souls of everyone in the world.
