John Brown’s Body is a progressive reggae band based in Boston and Ithaca. The band focused on roots reggae when it formed over a decade ago, but JBB’s sound has since evolved immensely. Their music uses reggae as a foundation, but incorporates dub, drum & bass, hip hop and even pop elements to create what the band calls “Future Roots.” The Daily News called their music “revolutionary and reverent.” Their latest release, AMPLIFY, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Reggae Chart in October 2008; in March 2009 they released an EP, RE-AMPLIFY, which includes remixes by Disashi (Gym Class Heroes), GoldieLocks, Dubmatix, Blue King Brown and Tommie Sunshine.
