Jocelyn Scofield is an independent singer/songwriter, whose work has been compared to music legends Joni Mitchell and Carol King, as well as contemporary artists Sara Bareilles and Fiona Apple. She has performed in 30 states and traveled over 100,000 miles during the past four years performing. She figures it has to be at least 100,000 as she bought her little red Saturn before she started touring 5 years ago it has 180,000 miles on it right now. During the last five years, she has toured the country three times as well as numerous regional tours performing in every kind of venue: festivals, coffee houses, conferences, concert series and art fairs...as well as warehouses, street corners, book stores, restaurants, and a laundrymat (long story). Scofield has independently recorded and released three albums. Her first album, “This Life,” was recorded in Long Beach in a smokey garage on a dat recorder. It received rave reviews (surprisingly enough) from several magazine including Indie-Music Magazine. They called her a “true composer … with a voice like a gutsier Fiona Apple.” CollectedSounds.com wrote: “It’s an excellent showcase for her strong vocals and piano playing. Vocally she has the same force as Jewel once had, and some of Fiona Apple's jazz inflections.” Her 2nd album, Unplugged & Unorganized is a piano/vocal acoustic album. Although it is by far her simplest album, it includes some of her fans favorite songs, 'Much bigger than this,' and a cover of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah.' In October of 2009, Jocelyn released her third album, "A Witty Girl," which was produced by Grammy Award winner Mitch Dane. This album was funded primarily through sponsorships by her fans. Because of them, she was not only able to hire a stellar producer at Sputnik Sound, but recorded it with some amazing musicians in Nashville. She released 'A Witty Girl' in late 2009 and since then, Jocelyn has signed a TV & Film licensing deal with a company in Santa Monica. Hopefully this year, you will be hearing one of her songs in on your favorite television show. When Jocelyn is not touring or recording, she spends time in Los Angeles and Nashville co-writing. She has co-written songs with Grammy Award winners and hit country songwriters, as well as great songwriters who have yet to be discovered. During the last few years, she has been selected from songwriters around the country to participate in the Johnny Mercer 'Power of a Song' workshop in Chicago and the ASCAP Pop Songwriter's workshop in Nashville. In 2009, Jocelyn was one of fourteen songwriters around the country to be selected to attend the Lester Sill Songwriter's Workshop in Los Angeles. Jocelyn is incredibly grateful for her fans, friends, and family. As an independent artist, they are the reason she is able to continue making music.
