About Jessy Tomsko

Portrait of Jessy Tomsko

Jessy Tomsko

Jessy Tomsko is a Philadelphia-based musician who is stepping into the spotlight with her uniquely confessional music that is both innovative and daring. Adding her own style to the singer/songwriter niche, Jessy’s poetry and engaging melodies sung in her clear soprano successfully break the mold.

Unlike many pop musicians today, Jessy is a classically trained singer who, for a time, desired a career in the big opera houses of the world. She holds a degree in voice performance from the prestigious American conservatory Westminster Choir College (Princeton, NJ). Upon graduating in May 2007, however, she decided that folk rock was truly where her heart wanted to be. Therefore, armed with a voice at home in any genre (classical, jazz, music theatre, pop, etc.), she decided to see where her music could take her.

With influences such as Joni Mitchell and Ani Difranco, Jessy is beginning to gain national recognition and is building a fan base from the ground up.

She has performed at many of the popular independent music venues in Philadelphia, including World Café Live, North Star Bar, the former Grape Street Pub, The Fire, MilkBoy Coffee, the Free Library of Philadelphia, and also appeared on the bill at the 2008 Fairmount Arts Crawl. April 2008 saw the independent release of Jessy Tomsko’s debut self-titled EP, which features five of her original songs. Her song “I Was Walking” has been featured on the San Dimas, California-based radio program “Women of Substance,” as well as on the Cool Vibes Acoustic Diner radio podcast (Philadelphia). Jessy has made several appearances on Princeton TV channel 30 on the programs “Breezin’ with Bierman” and The Arts Council of Princeton’s “Café Improv.”

September 2009 saw the release of her acoustic EP “Offer”. Jessy is currently recording at Evolving Sound Studios with engineer Greg Fisher. Her first full-length album “The Light You Make” is due out this summer!
