Jerry Martin McCall was born in Pontiac Michigan in the small town of Clarkston where at age 8 he began playing guitar and writing songs. As a teenager his family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida where they took up roots and Jerry started attending school. Going to school in south Florida was a culture shock for him, before moving to the south he had never seen such blind hate people had for each other, which he’s always had a hard time dealing with. Jerry formed bands throughout high school while working and developing his life experience. Jerry’s inner conflicts have made times rocky in the past but he always-continued writing and developing his talent with friends around him. Jerry and some of those friends formed Southern Rock group “MAYKYN HAYZYN” and opened for many big names in southern rock. Playing and touring wore hard on the band. Some felt the band was heading in different directions so the band split. Not long after that Jerry took his songs to Flowbee Studios and started putting down new material along with songs from the past which eventually turned into his debut release “Jerry Martin The Big Sound” with songs like “All You Gotta Do”, “New Beginning” and “Big Sound” Jerry breathes new life into southern rock while maintaining the classic feel we all love. The players on this record are all close friends and worked together to showcase Jerry’s great songs.
“THE BIG SOUND” is a metaphor for an elusive sound or Group that in sprit can change the world or at least make it a better place.
