As an emcee Jay Criss earned his respect on the local college scenes in New York and New Jersey. Despite a reputation of being known to rip the mic, he wasn’t satisfied with just being another emcee. Trained in classical piano, Jay had a diverse background in musical appreciation. He wanted to be more, but more at the time was classified as being "weird." While Jay waS into the urban music culture he also appreciated artists such as Cold Play, Cindi Lauper, Ryuichi Sakamoto & Daft Punk. Fear of not being accepted Jay continued to stay in the box until shortly after graduation when he found himself losing his passion for hip hop. He found himself longing to break the stereotypical molds of an emcee and desired to be something "different"... - Over the course of the next year Jay went through a musical metamorphosis and began incorporating other sounds into his production. As he began incorporating other sounds, he began to experiment with different topics.
