I have been asked to take part in a very cool nationwide event at The Gap in Rockingham Mall, Salem NH on Thursday 8/20/09 7pm – 9pm. Every GAP store across the country will take part in the event, every store will feature a LIVE acoustic performance that night. It is the largest simultaneous lve music event ever!
So if your looking for some thurdsday night fun come out to the Mall at Rockingham Park and catch me jamming away on songs from my new album.
There will be discounts for all who attend as the event is to promote the release on THE GAPS 1969 Jeans collection coming out this month.
I hope we can pack that store and rock the Mall for a couple hours , wouldn’t that be fun?
The Gaps description of the event:“Have you ever had trouble deciding between performing your music and shopping for accessible, clasically cool clothing on a Thursday? Your problems are solved!
On Thursday, August 20, every Gap retail store in the United States and Canada will host an exclusive acoustic concert in a series called Born to Play. For local performers, this is a great opportunity to gain exposure and possibly win the chance to work with producer John Alagia (Dave Matthews Band, Ben Folds Five, John Mayer, O.A.R.), as well as free Gap wardrobe. Performers will be able to sell CDs at the event and get their music into the hands of thousands of Gap employees through an exclusive employee website.
Believe it or not, the original Gap store sold both records and clothes forty years ago in San Fransisco (a bastion of both jeans and music in the 1960s), beginning a deep-rooted tradition of Gap support for music."
Hey all, happy Friday the 13th! It was about time for me to update the blog and let you all in on the status of the new record. We are taking a slow and steady approach to this project as time and budget allows but we are pretty far along and everything is running really smooth as the songs are beginning to really take shape. I’ve recorded almost all of my guitar parts for the record got a couple more tunes that I will be finishing up the end of the month. Yesterday we had Mike Null in to do his “Mike Null” thing on a few tracks and he really tore it up! Mike played a few shows with me last year and also played lead guitar on a little tune called “So Cliché.” The early studio favorite “casual” is one of the songs he played on and the soulful bluesy lick s he laid down on that tune just hit you right in he gut! Or as Dennis would say and I quote “Dude your solo made me want to eat beef stew." I have no idea what that means but it was probably one of the highlights of my day yesterday lol. I also want to take a moment to thank everyone who tuned in Monday night to hear me on 92.5 the River for my second radio play ever! I think every artist or musician dreams of having their song float along the airwaves of a popular local radio show no matter how big or small it is. I want to thank Rita Cary for choosing my song “so cliché” to feature on her Homegrown music program, its always inspiring when your art gets recognized. Its even more motivating when your in the studio working on new songs that you hope will one up your previous work and right now I think this new record will do just that! Pixy 103 Cape Cod will also be playing a couple of my tunes sometime soon on their local artist program so this is all very cool. Trying o do everything I can to get my name out there before we drop the new record. Lastly I want to give a shout out to Bob and Scott of the dynamic duo that is Cahill, they just had their song “Until Then” played on MTV’s The Real World, witch is just awesome!! Congrats guys. If you don’t know Cahill please check the out http://www.cahillmusic.com/. Awesome musicians and great guys too.
That’s all for now I’ll try to keep you all updated on the new record more frequently.
Thanks for all your support.

back to work on the new record, so much good stuff coming!
So this weekend we kicked it off, the new frontier for the music of Jay Broyer. I am back in the lab at 6media AV and friend/super producer Dennis Carrol and it feels so good to be working on new tunes again.
The adventure begins as it always does, with the rythm, the foundation, the building block………….. the Drums!Starting drums is exciting for a couple reasons, first mainly because it means we are starting the NEW RECORD!!! Also it’s when my lonely 6 string ideas really come to life for the first time. I’ve lived and grown with these songs in my hands and my acoustic for a couple years now and this is when we get to find out what they really are, how they feel with rythm and groove added to the mix. For years these tunes sit in my head as ideas and plans when i write them and play them live and i can only imagine what they will become with band. Now those ideas and plans get realized!
I really like the mix of songs that we are going with and after flushing them out with and perfecting the arrangment i’m really excited for the direction in which the songs are going individually. More so i’m really feeling the way these songs will fit together as an album. We have some really cool ideas that have been put in already and more that are yet to come in the months ahead.
We start bass tomorrow and also we get into playing a little acoustic guitar on the record as i set up to lay down my first musical contributions the next couple days.
Later in the week when the bass is done and the rythm is complete i will share more insight on the make up of the record as it stands in its infant rythmic life and offer my thoughts on a few of the songs individually.
Thanks again everyone and ic an’t wait to share this first full length project with all of you that have supported me since “the sound of U” was released
