I guess it’s time for one of these blogs since I haven’t done one in…well…forever. It’s 3/6/09, a quarter into the year that I think and have said is my year. It needs to be my year because I’m not getting any younger. Yep, I’ve passed the 30 mark and time is still ticking, I ain’t gonna have a baby face forever and Old Man Time will come and kick me in the ass one day saying “I’m Heeeerrrre!”
I’ve met with more heavy hitting influential people in Nashville the past 2 months than I have my whole life. Something is happening, but it just needs to happen faster. I’ve only been going at this now for…oh…18 years or so.
I’m amazed at how the big wigs in Nashville really aren’t sure what they’re looking for anymore. It’s as if Country music has become such a broad genre, they don’t how to pinpoint what Country is. It now spans from Jamey Johnson to Jimmy Wayne and everything in between. Southern Rock has been sucked in by the massive Country vacuum along with a lot of what used to be considered Acoustic Rock. I even saw Colbie Caillat on the CMT Video countdown. Kid Rock’s doing his country thing, Darius Rucker, Bon Jovi, Brett Michaels even Eddie Money gave it a shot, not to mention the Eagles. I’m pretty sure I fit in there somewhere, but I think some are thrown a bit by my vocals and think I should go pop. When I look at the broad spectrum of Country I do see a spot for me somewhere out there in Rascal Flatts and Jimmy Wayne country mixed in with a bit of Billy Currington and Keith Urban.
So that’s where I’m at right now, they’re loving my vocals, but don’t know where I fit. It’s all yet to be seen, I just hope it’s seen soon before Old Man Time starts knockin on my door.
While I’m here I’ll do my plugging, don’t forget the album can be found on itunes, amazon and pretty much every other place on the web you get music and cdbaby has the hard copies. Befriend me on myspace and
facebook.
ya’ll take care now ya hear
