I do love ourstage, but I must admit there is one downfall…begging for votes. When I first got on here, I thought that’s what you were supposed to do because everyone was doing it, so of course I did too. It didn’t take long to realize that was very annoying to me so I must be annoying someone too. This site is about the song itself, not the artist. I really think that was the ourstage creator’s idea going into this. Vote on the song and the song itself, not go out and gather as many family and friends making multiple accounts so they can go click “by far” on your song all day. I’ve seen way too many really bad tracks making it to the top on this site and the aforementioned is the reason why. I’ve even been tempted to vote a song better because the picture was better and that’s not right. Maybe we should remove the pics too. The place you are in at the end of regulation voting is probably where you TRULY are in the eyes of the people. I don’t know anybody that’s going to take the time to try to find all my songs during the month just so they can go in and click “by far”. Although, I know plenty of people that will do that during quarterfinals and semifinals. Friends and family win the finals, but the fans, the people put you where you’re at when regulation is over. So unless you have a huge fanbase, don’t worry about the quarters and semis because you’re not going to win those without having a lot of peeps at your beckon’s call waiting to go vote for you with 5 profiles. That’s the bottom line. Like it or leave it. I’ve been here 2 months and I’ve got 2 top ten awards and 2 tops in the Region awards. I’m just thankful the real fans put me high enough during regular voting to get me there. I don’t care about making it to the top ten because I know it didn’t come honest. It came from my family and friends. So let’s all get back to the purity of this site and vote for the song itself, not the artist, not the pretty high def picture…THE SONG! Oh yeah please vote for my song Southland, I’m trying to get in the top 20…..just kidding. Peace, Jason
