About Jarett Lopez

Portrait of Jarett Lopez

Hip-hop music, used to be where an artist could express themselves and partake in friendly (and sometimes not so friendly) competition.

Unfortunately now hip hop has become a popularity contest. New artists seem to only care about ringtones dollars and record sales. The saying “Money rules everything around me” is clearly being perpetuated in hip hop today. Lyricisim has become almost obsolete, creating a new wave of dance-instructing “rappers”. Not to say their music isn’t music. Simply that it isn’t hip hop and to call themselves rappers or hip hop artists, is shamefull.

With that in mind, look at an artist who brings something new to the stage…

Jarett Lopez is a Canadian Hip Hop Artist / Singer. Jarett’s intricate rhyming style is like no other, with such varied influences like: Immortal Technique, Rage Against The Machine, Bob Marley, Lil’ Wayne and several others. His music has all the characteristics of those who influence him, and he harnesses their techniques with his own style.

With rhymes like “I’m hungry, feed this kid! In your girl’s where my penis lives!”, Jarett’s rugged and X-rated type rhymes dubbed as “J Lyrics” are similar to Immortal Technique’s brutal metaphors. These hard hitting and often appauling rhymes put simple “club banging” rappers to shame. It is this mix of creative producers making beats with instruments not often used in hip hop like flutes, guitars, etc., emotion, wordplay and feeling that makes Jarett’s music so aluring.

So keep your eyes, ears and minds open for Jarett Lopez…

“My music sounds better than a good idea, so why should I fear?” – Jarett Lopez
