The power packed debut album from Oakland, California band ISABELLAS is here! After playing throughout the bay and beyond since 2005, their innovative sound has been captured on the CD “Partner, Don’t You Pull No Guns”. Crowd favorites “Bar Song” and “Ocean of Dreams” can now be heard outside of the live venue. Among the venues ISABELLAS have performed at are legendary Berkeley punk club 924 Gilman and favorite local dive bars Stork Club, El Rio, and The Knockout. Since their beginning, they have been mainstay on the variety show “Night Of Voices” put on by storyteller Matt Holdaway. Each song is a fresh brush stroke, which paints a picture to expose the fervor of this moody and defiant band. Songwriter Chloe Martin, a New Orleans transplant to the Bay Area, has a soulful voice reminiscent of early PJ Harvey filling each song with the desperation of youth and a longing beyond her 22 years. Upon arriving in the bay to attend school, she spent most of her time writing songs and playing guitar in the van she called home. Chloe then brought her songs to the streets hoping to make a few dollars. Dave Bartels met Chloe by replying to a “drummer wanted” flyer at UC Berkeley, where he was taking Gamelan and African Drumming. His explosive drums combined classic rock and surging rhythms to invigorate Martin’s songs. After original bass player departed for grad school in Molecular Biology to Seattle, Isabellas took its time finding a suitable replacement. Chris Hay, the newest member, knew Dave from living together at the infamous co-op Cloyne Court. His heavily grooving bass, with influences from jazz to dub, complete the sound bringing this three piece to life.
