Hey Ourstage! Here is some background about the music video we are making of the song Priceless!
“Human Trafficking is modern day slavery; involving victims who are forced, defrauded or coerced into labor or sexual exploitation. It is estimated that 27 million people are enslaved around the world today. Human Trafficking is the 2nd most lucrative crime in the world, making over 32 BILLION dollars a year. "
This past year I went to a conference raising awareness about Human Trafficking in the US and the information I received in that time changed my heart/life. I knew I couldn’t just walk away from that powerful seminar without doing something, and I had this thought, “Hey, I should use my song PRICELESS (a song about human trafficking) for a music video to raise awareness about Human Trafficking”.
It didn’t just stop there. I called up my buddies at www.thepalestra.net. (They do amazing video work for Indie artists they find all around the nation. They also have a show on Fox 28, had some stuff on CNN and they have their own Web Network) I presented my idea, shared the statistics and they jumped into the idea headfirst! We came up with a story line that is pretty powerful, and have 75 women who have volunteered to be extras in the video! We are meeting on Tuesday to set up a shooting schedule, and to talk more details on the project. (If you’d like to be an Extra and live in Ohio, contact me here on OurStage!!)
We are also getting some help from Shared Hope International (www.sharedhope.org), an organization dedicated to rescuing victims out of the Human Trafficking industry. They are giving us stats and some stories from some of the amazing women who have survived.
I am also playing benefit shows like crazy to help raise awareness about Human Trafficking and speaking at college groups to get the word out.
I am working hard to give those without a voice, a voice! If you’d like to help out, let me know! There is a lot we could be doing for this cause.Check out: www.sharedhope.org or www.love146.org for more info about human trafficking.

I have been a part of this crazy cool site ourstage.com for quite a while now. OurStage is a community of Fans and Musicians that can vote on and rate your song in their honest opinion, and you move up and down in the rankings accordingly. One of my songs “Battle Scars” made it in 2nd place ranking in February! Horaay! Thanks to everyone who voted! It was really neat to see. :)
I was also informed that OurStage did an Editorial Feature on Battle Scars and my music too! It is pretty neat if you want to check it out go to: http://blog.ourstage.com/2009/03/16/heather-evans-battle-scars-are-healing/
Or you can read it below!
“Rising singer/songwriter Heather Evans is no stranger to OurStage. After she joined OurStage in 2008 at the age of 21, her soulful and strong voice was recognized immediately by fans on OurStage. She fought for quite a while though, before she took a Top 10 spot in February’s Indie Rock rankings. An avid singer who’s mature sound carries her experiences well, Heather recorded her first full album when she was just fifteen. That album, “Impatient Heart” has since sold many thousands of copies.
Incorporating her humble and honest nature, Heather often sings of her strong personal faith. “Battle Scars”, which finished 2nd in Indie Rock in February on OurStage, carries a particular message of staying true to yourself.
“Ride on, you soldier of the Lord … Battle scars will heal, they will heal”
Hailing from central Ohio, Heather doesn’t just sing about her own origins and ordeals. She is also active in charities and benefits to help end human trafficking and sex trafficking in Asia and Africa. You can read more about the organizations she works with, Shared Hope International and Hear The Cry.
Check out more information about Heather Evans on her profile, or check out her album on iTunes." OURSTAGE

There is also a Human Trafficking Awareness show coming up April 24th at Ohio Northern University. It is going to be a really cool show, Some of my friends are playing at it Peti Banfe, Jesse Burkett to name a few! I am super excited to be apart of something I really passionate about!
I have been on quite the roller coaster lately. I would say a little bit like Cedar Point’s “The Raptor”, lots of twists and turns with your feet dangling in the air and lots of going upside down. Ha! So lots of really neato things are happening, but I am also meeting a lot of challenges too! I’ve been growing a lot, and sometimes growing hurts, and finding who I am… Finding my voice. Let’s just say, you haven’t heard the last of me yet! The more I do the more I know I have to do. Does that make sense? Anyways! I am really excited to see where this roller coaster (life) takes me.
HERE WE GOOOO!!!!!
“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!”
TONIGHT a few musical hometown heroes are getting together for a cool cause called HEAR THE CRY. Hear the Cry is an amazing Columbus based organization that is fighting HIV/AIDs in Africa. They are helping mom’s and babies by giving them formula, daily needs and a type of medication that stops the spread of AID’s from mother to baby. What a cool way to give this holiday season!
Though we can’t meet them in person TONIGHT we are standing along side of the mothers, babies and people who are facing this scary disease ALONE and saying “WE HEAR YOU, WE SEE YOU, WE ARE HERE FOR YOU, YOU ARE NOT ALONE.” I get goose bumps just thinking about it! Visit www.hearthecry.org to read more!

Yesterday was fantastically hectic! :)
Me and Brett scrambled to finish up some CD stuff, and ended up doing a magical photo shoot! It all started with our neighborhood laundry mat and a light. we came up with some super cool shots and decided we would put a few on the new cd. They were exactly what I was looking for, representing the struggle between light and dark. These same themes run all through out my new CD FOR MY GENERATION, and I wanted the cover and pictured to have the same power as the songs.
The talented Adam Hines is starting the artwork this Thursday, and I am pumped to see what he comes up with! It has been a grewling couple of months waiting for the cd to be complete, and now that it is almost done, I am filled with joy and excitement!
Yesterday I got a call from my buddy from www.thepalestra.com about doing another video shoot for a Pilot for a new show on FOX 28 they are doing. So, next Tuesday I am going to hang out with them and sing a few new tunes for the Pilot! What fun! :) I love those guys (and Gals) at the Palestra!
More to come soon!
