About Hartwell

Portrait of Hartwell
Trouble achieving eargasm??

If so, Hartwell can help.

In the spring of 2002, HARTWELL spawned out of the need for a "between-jobs-right-now...really" actor and musician to showcase his vocal and songwriting ability to a couple of his friends in the biz...maybe even to the world. After the challenge of putting a band of super humans together was won, the other members of HARTWELL began to contribute ideas by folding their unique flavorings into the musical brew; a steaming hot bowl of lounge grooves, drum n bass and funk stylings with a hint of pop-rock in the mix. As a result, music aficionados from the tri-state area to the Pacific Islands have been treated to a delectably pungent creolization; a unique blend of creamy melodies, intoxicating riffs and hip-shaking, head-nodding beats.

Following an unconventional route, Hartwell journeyed to Suburban Soul Studios in Highland Park, New Jersey in the summer of 2002 to record their debut album, Total Request before playing even a single gig. A combination of both humorous and contemplative lyrics, Total Request enjoyed strong sales and much critical praise following its release.

Meanwhile, MP3 versions of the debut began a quick ascent on independent music website charts, becoming a fixture in Kazaa's CornerBand.com's Top 10. Following numerous consecutive weeks as Cornerband.com's 1 band, Hartwell was selected as a featured band in their Best Band promotion. Simultaneously, Hartwell experienced over 100,000 DRM downloads on Kazaa and nearly 3,000 more on mp3.com.

In addition, their songs, "Mudslide" and "Stained Glass" were featured on Garageband.com as "Track of the Day" and received "Best Bass" and "Most Rocking Track" respectively while pop-rock song "Easily" made it into The 2003 Windrift Songwriting Competition finalist round.

From early winter through late summer of 2007, Hartwell entered Jersey Shows' 8th annual Battle of the Bands. With over 160 bands competing from the tri-state area (NY,NJ, PA), Hartwell battled their way through four rounds of intense competition and made it to the finals held at The Starland Ballroom (Sayreville,NJ). They won third place overall and drew one of the largest crowds of the evening.

Recently, Hartwell teamed up with director Jose Alvarado to shoot their premier music video of their debut single, "Unsaid" and will be packaging a full length interactive DVD including band interviews, unseen footage of the music video and mulitple audio tracks.

Hartwell's energetically captivating shows at clubs, bars, cafes and private parties over the past years have consistently drawn large, youthful crowds consisting of their extremely passionate and loyal fans at the core. In the coming year, Hartwell endeavors to bring their sound to a wider audience by heavily promoting their new demo release and increasing radio air-play including college stations such as 90.3 "The Core" where they have their 2006 demo release on rotation.

Hartwell maintains and continues on their path toward success by relentlessly playing shows whenever and wherever there are people to listen and senses to feed.

Go ahead, indulge your earhole pleasures.

Indulge in Hartwell.
