Welcome One and All!
I am the author of Backtracking Forward on the OurStage Blog, a weekly column dedicated to that loveable flat disc known as the long player. Over the past few years, vinyl has jumped back on the radar, providing a whole new generation of music listeners with an appreciation for the analog format. Anything and everything about the underbelly of the vinyl market will be discussed in Backtracking Forward on a weekly basis. Along the way, I will also be featuring some of OurStage’s finest talent in the jazz, blues, funk, hip-hop and international categories.
As you will come to see through my weekly writings, I am a vinyl junkie. For over ten years, I have been wheeling and dealing used LPs to the masses, helping feed the resurgence of the record album in today’s marketplace. Because of the wheeling and before the dealing, I have managed to accumulate enough albums in my personal collection to keep an uninterrupted stream of music playing until I die. And I still won’t be able to hear them all.
Leading up to this, I have shared my passion for music by writing for CMJ New Music Report and Wax Poetics. I have commandeered the airwaves on WCBG in Staten Island and WFMU in Jersey City, broadcasting rare slabs of wax to the music hungry public.
Looking to start a collection or fill a gap in your stack of vinyl? I host a monthly, all vinyl sale in the heart of Central New Jersey, right next to Rutgers University in New Brunswick. Drop me a line if you are ever in the neighborhood at flyingharryrecords@gmail.com
I encourage all forms of feedback, comments, and suggestions!
