Greetings musicians and music lovers, my name is Dave Rodriguez. I, like most people here, love music. I started playing rhythm guitar at about 12, 13. I went to Erasmus Hall H.S. where I played the bass, and no I didn’t see Barbara Streisand or Neil Diamond, they were before me, (wiseguy). But I do enjoy playing. My real passion though was singing acappella and harmonies. Yeah that was me on the street corners of Brooklyn at 14,15 with the old cats singing doo-wop anywhere from “Daddy’s Home” to “Ooh Baby Baby” by Smokey and the Miracles. At 15 my older brother introduced me to a guitarist named Teddy Lopez, although an age gap, musically we hit it off. Some local NY musicians may have run into him at some time in New York, he’s still in the music scene. Anyway we used to play a lot in Greenwich Village, New York City, at Washington Sq. park and surrounding restaurants and clubs. My mom would lock me out for coming home at 3:00 in the morn, then I’d go and stay at Teddy’s. But I loved what I was doing. We played a lot of Beatle tunes and sang in two-part harmonies and a few of his originals as well. I don’t sing much anymore, a car accident years ago put an end to that when the steering wheel hit my throat and cause some damage to my vocal chords. I can still talk but I lost my range and falsetto. I don’t listen to much rap mainly because of it’s content and or profanity. If it can’t be heard by my grandchildren then why should I?? That wouldn’t be setting a good example now would it?? Well that’s part of my story and I’m sticking to it, thanks for reading now get back to listening to music :)
