I'm a songwriter and basement recording 'artist.'
I started writing songs when I was 14, became a professional musician at 16, and stopped playing professionally when I was about 30.
I've got 20 years of my songs on large reel-to-reel tapes (about 30 of 'em) and I'm slowly feeding each song into my computer to digitalize them all; when our sweet 3-year-old daughter allows me to.
I met her mother on the Internet and we've been married for 8 years - she's a web designer from Tbilisi, Georgia.
As a songwriter, I try to come up with fairly original lyrics to the frequent melodies that still pop into my head from wherever original melodies come from. I can be walking down the street and find myself humming something I've never heard before, and quickly put a few words to the melody which seems to repeat every 4 to 8 bars. And on it goes...:-)
For several years I've been recording into the computer
using Cakewalk Sonar, and fine tuning with GoldWave.
However, what sounds good on the computer speakers
differs poorly in quality from the stereo speakers.
Anyone got any solutions on how I can get the best of both worlds when mixing?
