The year 2006 saw the birth of an aggressive heavy metal band that has a captivating sound all its own. Mixed with earth-shattering drums, face-melting guitars, and roaring yet beautiful vocal lines, this unique yet marketable band from Peoria, Illinois has come together to leave a lasting impression on metal masses around the world. This band is Genovese Effect. The bands’ members; vocalist Tyler Smith, guitar players TJ Duckwiler and Adam Curry, bassist Vince Clem, and drummer Rick Streeter, united from various bands around the region with the goal of creating a sound distinct from the bands they had previously been involved with. Synergy within the group allowed for songs and melodies to be written with ease. After recording their first two-song demo, Genovese Effect was featured on the local rock station’s local show. Shortly thereafter, the band was opening for national touring acts such as Straight Line Stitch, Within Chaos, Hell Within, The Autumn Offering, Forever In Terror, The Destro, Ashes Of Your Enemy, Bobaflex, Know Lyfe, and Hydrovibe as well as becoming finalists in the Projekt Revolution contest to open up for Linkin Park in St. Louis, Missouri. Other contests include battles to open up for Five Finger Death Punch, Powerman 5000, and 36 Crazyfists. Genovese Effect’s unrelenting determination to create music that is absorbing to its listeners yet atypical to what is commonly heard amongst metal bands continues to be their main focus. They are continuing to compose new music while performing at numerous venues each month drawing more fans with every show.
