Whether she is strumming guitar and singing, playing her musical saw, or backing herself with her bass, she is always doing it with her heart and soul invested one hundred percent. Since childhood, music has been her calling. "I have pictures of me with these metal tins set up all around me like a drum kit and even had a wood piece loosely nailed in the top of one for a snare effect...Not that I am a drummer now, but I was definitely into sound at a young age. I also still have my journal from when I was seven and on the 'Hopes and Dreams' page I wrote, "I want to be a famous singer." And of course my grandma never lets me forget how I sang 'The Rainbow Connection' to her when I was six years old. I too, remember." Gillian has traveled the world collecting experiences and knowledge to feed her creative soul and enrich her story. She has an impressive list of attributes both musical and non-musical. She studied classical and jazz voice in college and along the way learned how to play guitar, upright bass, musical saw, ukulele, kalimba, and hand percussion. She also composes and arranges and released her debut album Whiskey Sandwich in 2004. She has worked, lived and played in countries all over the world, speaks four languages, is an avid hiker having logged thousands of miles on walking trails of the world, is a sailboat captain and lived aboard her boat for three years, and now resides in New York City. She is currently performing around the city with her own group as well as Latin sensation Movmiento with Mireya Ramos. Her set lists consist of an entertaining mix of Jazz, Blues, R and B, African and Latin. When she covers a song, she interprets it in a way that it becomes her own. Gillian performs with sensitivity, passion, a great sense of humor and everything in between. Her powerful and soulful voice has an incredible range and her repertoire will surely impress any crowd.
