From the liberalism of the UK to the unsuspecting JHB comes a rock band that truly…stops traffic… FOURTEEN40 is a 4-piece rock outfit from JHB South Africa with a mission. With about 50 years collective experience in the music industry, local and international, there must be something about a band like this when they STILL know they can take over the world. From Ren, singer-songwriter, who sings with a passion reminiscent of that of a young Bono and gut-wrenching vocals, to Jo on bass, who’s stage performance leaves you gasping for air, to the thunderous riff-master Bruce on lead, to rock-steady Roald on the drums, there is no area left “un-accessed”. Having played their first ever gig after only being together for a week, they shared the stage with the likes of Prime Circle, Wonderboom, The Finks, 16 Stitch, and have continued their rampage of the industry alongside these greats in SA. With a their first ever radio single “Inside Out” reaching No.2 on the 94.7 Highveld Stereo Home Brew chart, and their follow up single “Mother Mother” reaching the coveted No.1 position, this band is unstoppable. Their songs have been play listed and hit either No.1 or the top 10 on stations like 94.7, TUKS FM, UJFM, Jacaranda 94.2 and KFM and plays on ALL major SA stations. The band also walked away with 2 One Gospel Africa music awards in 2008 – best rock band and best rock song – having been up against bands like Straatligkinders and The Ambulants. Adding to the above they wrote the theme song for popular men's magazine show C.I.G.A.R.E (SABC 3), and all videos and singles are currently play listed on all TV and radio stations, including 5FM, SABC, M-Net and MK Collectively, these guys have previously played in international band Nowhere Near The Garden, and local SA acts such as Kaktus, Kickstand, The Renedy, Avenues of Greatness and Tell. FOURTEEN40 are as passionate about connecting with their crowd and connecting their audience with God as they are about writing awesome songs. There is a musical chemistry and on stage that is yet to be seen elsewhere on South African stages. Thundering through balls-to-the-wall rock anthems, and weaving seamlessly into passionate, heartfelt power ballads, this band is about to take you on a journey you might never return from.
