Their music is good, as evidenced by their debut album, A Suit You Can Wear – a record full of the kind of rock ‘n’ roll your parents don’t want you listening to. For the Birds is a band. They make music. Their music is good, as evidenced by their debut album, A Suit You Can Wear – a record full of the kind of rock ‘n’ roll your parents don’t want you listening to. Their members – singer/guitarist Katie Kaboom, drummer Dynamite Rex, bassist Tron Ogilvy, and guitarist Maverick el Matador - all believe in two things: rock ‘n’ roll, and good times. That’s why, over a case of cold beers in early 2010, For the Birds was drunkenly born. Now, 12 months, 207 practices, 49 gigs, 25 songs, 18 different cover songs, one award nomination, and 14,897 beers later, For the Birds are finally hitting their stride – releasing their debut LP and two follow-up EPs within the span of two months. Having recorded A Suit You Can Wear at Toronto’s famed MetalWorks Studio with engineer Kevin Dietz (Silverchair, Placebo) and local producer Fat Andy, the band finalized tracklisting, mixing, and artwork in late January, had the album pressed in February, and had their album release party by the end of the month. Between all this, they began work on two follow-up five song EPs, featuring some of the fan favourites written after their marathon recording at MetalWorks. Now, the only thing left for For the Birds: the hangover.
