About Evangeline
Jeffery Armstreet and Jonathan Barrick met in the summer of 2005 and soon developed a close friendship around their love for songwriting, story-telling and the beauty of melancholy. Their first collaboration, Evangeline, set the stylistic tone for their new partnership. Their deep emotional connection with the audience creates a uniqueness in their approach to songwriting as well as their performances. In 2006 they formed their band aptly named Evangeline. The driving force behind their music is the desire to communicate the depths of life’s struggles and challenges in relationships, choices, death, life and faith. With influences ranging from Pedro the Lion to Johnny Cash and Counting Crows to Otis Redding, Jonathan’s sincere vocals combined with the lyrical honesty of the music’s delivery set Evangeline apart with an artistic focus and authenticity. The band is in the process of recording their first CD at Hyde Park Studios in the heart of Houston, Texas under the guidance of producer and EMI recording artist, Robbie Seay. “I’m drawn to this music because it moves me. This collection of songs is full of life and struggle and these guys are connecting with an audience on a deeper level than just melody and lyric.” said Seay, ” I’m proud to have spent time wrestling with these songs alongside this band and playing a small role in putting them together in album form, it’s a fantastic record!!” “I think they’re great! Well crafted songs, beautiful voice. Familiar but still original. Jonathan’s voice reminds me a bit of Ben Harper. They’re perfect for the kind of music that’s being popularized by Grey’s Anatomy, etc. ….like The Fray.”~ MATT STERNBERG Evangeline is based in Houston, Texas and managed by Extreme Dreams Artist Management.
