The flowing alternative melodies of the flood ooze an amber coloured liquid through the veins of collected few individuals, who combine old school metal, rock and grunge into one explosive sound experience. Verses of anguish, choruses of victory, screams of ecstasy and growls from hell supply the thick bass, pounding drums and heavy riffs with emphasis, feeling and emotion Songwriter Joel McDonnell began playing guitar in high school after being influenced by the late 80s metal and the early grunge. His childhood was spent moving from state to state and solace was found in guitar and singing and exploring the music of bands like Alice in Chains, Black Sabbath, Faith No More and Metallica, upon which his music tastes are influenced by. Shaun's drum technique stems from years of listening and playing along with the likes of NIN, Ministry, Slayer and other industrial bands, therefore adding a powerful technical metal sound to the EHF sound, heightened with the use of double kick drumming. Salvador has been with the band since mid 2005, his Chilean background introduced a little more salsa to the songs, allowing percussion instruments like bongos and congas to be incorporated. Years of classical guitar training has given the band a more polished sound and a new life to some old songs. Dan Fox joined us in mid 2006 and departed in July 2008. We thank Dan for his service and wish him well. Vivek Raj drops by every so often to assist with some wicked conga beats, some big hats and is another member of the EHF crew. The latest addition to the EHF crew is Steve on Bass, availability issues forced the search for a new bass player, and Steve has fitted in to the band in a short amount of time. EL HONEYFLOOD is now back and gig ready, the break from live shows and a regular band format has allowed Joel and Shaun to work on new material, in which we believe a new direction is evident, more riffs, longer songs, more brutal, more sweet, more spice, more blazing solos, more everything.
