Dugan Henhawk @ the Limp Lizard- Syracuse, NY
I'm Dugan Henhawk, leader of the Roustabouts from CNY, currently residing in America's Ashtray, Las Vegas (the things a man will do for love!). What we have here is sometimes called Roots Rock. I like to call it American Roadhouse Music. It's the sorta stuff heard in a dark-n-smokey jukejoint with elegantly warped wooden floors & pickled eggs in a cloudy jar next to the scratch-offs. It's music for a goodtime Saturday night when you know yer not gonna make it to church the next morning; no excuses, no worries, no regrets. The band-produced disc from which these numbers are taken, "Fried Chicken to Go" was a labor of love from a sextet of guys who've gladly paid their dues in the various dumps & dives in the Syracuse, NY area for many years, guys who know what it means to good-naturedly ignore requests for "Turn the Page" (sheesh!), but will gladly play "6 Pack to Go" when the situation calls for it (R.I.P. Hank Thompson). Four of my originals are featured here, & I hope you like 'em. The full-length CD of "Fried Chicken to Go" (15 roadhouse classics recorded in glorious stereophonic sound just for YOU) is available @ www.losroustabouts.com Muchas gracias.
