Biography

Celtic Rock is a mixture of traditional Scottish and Irish music fused with in-your-face rock grooves. Dublin Free Press embodies this sound. Celtic Rock is a mixture of traditional Scottish and Irish music fused with in-your-face rock grooves. Dublin Free Press embodies this sound. This band was formed under the roof of Berklee College of Music. DFP was founded by fiddle player and backing-vocalist, Emilio Arredondo, who stumbled upon Celtic Rock in the early stages of his playing career. Arredondo has been playing classical violin, Texas style, Celtic, Rock, Pop, and various other styles in his 10 years of playing. He has been invited to play and record with several different bands, such as, The Killdares, Mark Wood, The Greatest View, Angle ‘N Irons, and many others. He has also taught at various fiddle camps around the nation. Kyle Hovland, the bassist of Dublin Free Press, is currently attending Berklee College of Music as a Music Education Major. Since he got to Berklee in 2008, Kyle has played many shows in the Boston area, and has even traveled to Nashville to play. Kyle has appeared on numerous recordings with bands and songwriters at Berklee. He has also performed at the Annual Jazz/Blues Guitar Night at the Berklee Performance Center with guitarist Jules Leyhe. Dan Beseda hails from Stockton, California and is a double major in Music Therapy and Performance. He has been playing the keyboard for 13 years and has been currently recording and playing with the Brian Jones Band. Beseda currently studies with Bruce Katz, and has also studied with Aaron Garner, Patrick Langham, and Tom Parmeter among others. Dan is versatile in a variety of styles and his abilities add attitude and character to DFP’s music. Jeff Hale, the drummer in DFP, has been playing 10 years with a wide variety of experience, including the styles of jazz, latin, rock, metal, and best of all Celtic. Jeff spent two years in the Joe Devenney Band, and is a current member of local bands Black Trip, Randy James Dio, and Restless Conviction. He also plays with Hillary Reynolds and Brian Jones. Jeff is a fifth-semester Berklee student, majoring in Contemporary Writing and Production. He currently studies the drumset with Tony 'Thunder' Smith, and has studied with Mike Mangini, Rod Morganstein, Bertram Lehmann, Ralph Peterson, and others. DFP’s vocalist and lead guitarist, Thom Turner, is 26 years old with 9 years of professional playing. Featured on many recordings by hard rock bands Wishpool, This Fabled Requiem and acoustic groups Jericho Hill and Emote. Turner is currently endorsed by Warrior Guitars and formerly affiliated with Michael Kelly Guitars. He has appeared in hundreds of live performances with the likes of Hawthorne Heights and Merit. Dublin Free Press is currently booking shows in the New England area. They are planning their 1st album, which should be out in late 2010.
