Andre “DreBuc” Buchanan was born on Sept. 1, 1982 in Cook County, Chicago, Illinois. His mother, feeling that he would have limited opportunities growing up on the South Side of Chicago, relocated to Greensboro, NC where DreBuc’s Grandmother resided before he turned 1 year old. DreBuc lived on the East Side of Greensboro in the infamous Morningside, “The Grove”, projects. After a short time in The Grove, DreBuc’s mother moved to the original St. James projects on the South Side of Greensboro where most of his adolescent years were spent. The neighborhood exposed him to many things in life at an early age, including his mother’s drug addiction inside the home. DreBuc was an honor roll student despite his environment and was later taken in, along with his two younger brothers, by his Uncle who lived in Virginia Beach at the age of 10. While living in Virginia, DreBuc grew closer to rap, and wrote his first rap at the age of 11. He also played the Trumpet in his school band for 3 years, deepening his involvement and love of music. DreBuc was also introduced to Break-Dancing in the Virginia Beach area during the mid ‘90s. DreBuc became involved with the “wrong crowd” from the Twin Canal area in Virginia Beach, and started falling off track, skipping school, and driving and joyriding in stolen cars at the age of 14. After being caught by his Uncle, and losing a close friend to a car crash resulting from a high speed police chase in a stolen vehicle, DreBuc put his focus back into school and music. After promising his Uncle that he would continue to stay out of trouble, DreBuc returned to the East Side of Greensboro to live with his mother, who had kicked her addiction. During his sophomore year at Page High School, DreBuc’s mother relapsed, resulting in him and his younger siblings moving in with his Grandmother who also resided on the East Side. DreBuc’s mother became clean later on, but he still continued to live with his Grandmother. Around the neighborhood and in school, DreBuc started developing a reputation as a young, skilled rapper. He performed in several talent shows, including the “1st Annual Record Label Showcase” that was put together by the local radio station “102 Jamz” and held in Winston-Salem, NC. DreBuc was a third of the rap group trio “The Untouchables” with one of the members being Prop Joe of the “Prop Joe Radio Show” out of Danville, VA. DreBuc also appeared on the “10 o’clock Bomb”, a show of 102 Jamz where local artists were given the opportunity to be heard throughout the Triad area. After graduating from high school in 2000, DreBuc joined the Army the following year, and left the dreams of a record deal behind in Greensboro. While serving in the military, DreBuc has been stationed in Colorado, Georgia, California, Korea, Oklahoma, and is currently stationed in New York. He was also deployed to Iraq for a year. Having lived all over the country, DreBuc has made songs with numerous artists under indie labels, and has always been the head artist of any group or indie label he was involved with. Now, along with Alwin “JaeNyce” Johns, another soldier who showed interest in helping him pursue a music career, DreBuc is a co-founder of Imperial Kingz Entertainment (I.K.E.), a new indie label that is out to leave their mark. Recording in his home studio, DreBuc is using his knowledge and life experiences to jump-start what could be one last shot at the dream he once left behind as a teen. Although he has a career in the military, DreBuc drives off of the motivation that this life long love, may one day, become his primary means of income, making the child-hood dream of becoming an internationally known artist A REALITY!
