Portrait of Douglas MacKrell

Douglas MacKrell is a man of many talents. He is an artist, an actor, a performer, a prop designer, a special effects engineer, an inventor, a writer, a part-time superhero, and a valued friend to many. Douglas’ acting career has spanned over 11 years and has focused on improvisational comedy. A keen mind and a sharp wit have aided him in his extensive experience in the feild of performance.

He has studied with the Upright Citizens Brigade and the People’s Improv Theater in NYC. He has improvised directly with large groups of families in multiple roles at the theme restaurants The Jekyll and Hyde Club and Mars 2112 in NYC. He has worked 7 seasons at the REC NY Renaissance Faire, where he headlined and hosted several shows including Ask the Village Idiot and The Wet Dirt Show Starring the Brothers Grime. He has worked 5 tours with the National Theater for Children based out of Minneapolis MN, where he performed 6 shows a day directly in elementary schools. Douglas is the winner of the Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Award for his performance of Arvide Abernathy in Guys and Dolls. Aside from a love of writing in the third person, Douglas has also written sketches for, and performed with, Oncoming Traffic’s short lived two year tenure in NYC.

Currently he enjoys working as a mild mannered male receptionist for a major metropolitan pharmaceutical company, but if the need should arise he will doff the shackles of corporate slavery and rise to any creative challenge. His name is Douglas MacKrell, and if you haven’t heard of him yet, you will soon.
