Lyrics and Stories

Over the last few months, I’ve listened to many artist’s and their works here on ourstage, and I’ve really enjoyed several here… A few inspire me with their creativity to listen to them more than others; not because of how they perform, but what they write about, how they put their stories together, and the music they choose to carry their messages on…

As a writer, the message in the song intrigues me most but, too often on here because of the poor quality recordings or sometimes overly busy music backings, I just can’t pull out their lyrics even if I like the music… With that in mind, I’ve decided here in my own little “tell-more-than-they-hear” space, I’d post a few of my song’s lyrics so, people could actually read the stories and digest the meanings without having to strain an ear to hear the words…

I’ve written many many songs, but the only ones I’ll post here for now are those reflecting a bit of my more socio-political consciousness side of writing… Each song has it’s own story, it’s own undertone, and often poiniently daggered social truths not always a convenient public morality people care to think about…

I learned the posting format here doesn’t allow cut and pasting doc and text files as written; rather, requiring separating lines with periods at the end of each line to keep the verses intact… I reedited a little to try and do that here, but I think you can get the stopping points okay…

I hope anyone chancing onto this blog page will stay long enough to realize there’s more to music than just the ear candy here on ourstage… If you take the time to read through these few songs, perhaps you’ll come away with a little insight into the world and, even find a little something to ponder for yourself…

Best of luck to all… Doug
