Biography

Formed in the summer of 2009 the Donnie Brunson Band was anticipated by many before the first note was ever played. The idea came to Brunson after talking to Hal McCormack ( Guitarist Black Oak Arkansas ) about putting a band together to pick up the slack between the two artist shows. by chance Brunson was asked to appear at a show in Arkansas with Tony Spinner (guitarist TOTO and the Tony Spinner Band ) with that, a light bulb went off in Brunsons head, hey why not put these two guys togethe...

Formed in the summer of 2009 the Donnie Brunson Band was anticipated by many before the first note was ever played. The idea came to Brunson after talking to Hal McCormack ( Guitarist Black Oak Arkansas ) about putting a band together to pick up the slack between the two artist shows. by chance Brunson was asked to appear at a show in Arkansas with Tony Spinner (guitarist TOTO and the Tony Spinner Band ) with that, a light bulb went off in Brunsons head, hey why not put these two guys together see what happens? the search went out for a drummer and first on the list was Pete mindello ( drummer Jimi Jamison ) Brunson had known of Pete for years and although they played the same venues and been at each others shows had never talked. everything is looking good right ? now for a bassist. there was never a question who the guy for that job was . Rome Mcminn ( Don Mcminn and night train / Curbside players ) is one of the best bass players I have ever heard says Brunson . so there it was the band was made up now to get them all together. The first thing that comes with putting a new band together is the grief of getting everybody's schedules together and making them work to be able to play together. that being said ,these guys are all world famous musicians and with that comes Chaos for the one trying to book a show that all of the guys can make. there was a decision to be made, put a band together with people who cant make the shows and never play, or move to Musicians that are the best that Memphis has to offer and have the best band around anywhere? well it wasn't a hard decision to make . That's when Wayne walker (Guitarist Country Grammar / NMB /Curbside Players ) came to the mix. Brunson and Walker had been friends for years and had been waiting for the chance to work together. well the time had come and Wayne gladly excepted the offer. Walker is a guitarist with so much feel that it doesn't matter what style he plays he owns it and that can not be said by many. Next was Trent Dickinson ( Guitarist FlATOUT / the Undisputed ) Brunson and Dickinson were both formerly of the band FLATOUT and had played together for 8 years . if there where ever two people who could mind meld without the ole Vulcan touch on the forehead these guys were it. Trent has got a style that can not be matched by any guitar player that I know of says Brunson. As I said before there was never a question about who would play bass so Rome Mcminn stayed in the mix. Rome suggested his brother Doug Mcminn ( Reba Russell Band / Blind Mississippi Morris / Night train ) for the drums . if you have never seen this guy on the drums you have truly missed out. I don't know anybody that can howl on a harmonica and beat the crap out of the skins at the same time but Doug does it with ease. So there you have it. the beginning , the present , and now the future of the band is yours to see. Read more: http://www.myspace.com/thedonniebrunsonband#ixzz113X3rxfl
