Dj SLum, also known as Sean Lum is a 17 year old musician who lives very close to Portland, Oregon, USA. Dj SLum has been listening to genres of music such as Drum and Bass, Hardstyle, Electro, House, and Happy Hardcore for many years, and one day, he decided to start off producing music on his own. That was when he bought Fruity Loops and began to produce with nothing but a computer keyboard, and his desktop computer. When he started at the age of 15, he had no idea how to do anything. Through trial and error, and many audio tutorials over the internet, he began to make music. Starting off in trance, and more lightly / minimal music, he wasn't very satisfied. So then he began producing Hard House, and Hardstyle, his influences reaching from musicians such as Blutonium Boy, and Noisecontrollers. Then, one day, out of the blue Dj SLum found the legend and sound of Spor. His music hence forth was forever changed. The unique sound and feel of Spor's music moved him to also search for the unique sound, and find his own place in the vast world of Darkstep. Dj SLum has never been concerned with place-holdings, contests, or statistics about popularity on websites. It has always been about the music, and that is how it will remain. So for now, Dj SLum is underground, much like Deadmau5 used to be, and hopefully over time, he will gain some attention. Outside of the music world, Sean is also an up and coming web/graphic designer and artist. His name in the graphic and web world is Sean Lum Design, and so far he has gotten the attention of The Art Institute of Portland, where he should be going later this year. His artwork does not have much of a pulled influence from other graphic artists, so his art is unique, as well as his websites. Being only 16, it is hard for Sean to find jobs, so at the moment he takes his free time and molds it into work time with things like web design / mentoring lessons for his teachers at school, working with the school district on their website with maintenance and upkeep, teaching other students how to use Photoshop and getting them on their way into the world of graphic art, and many other things. Mainly he designs Myspace Layouts, Wordpress themes, and finds fun ways to use jQuery, a form of Javascript, to make websites more interactive and fun.
