DJ JERRY GRIFFITH If you have not experienced one of DJ Jerry Griffith’s live sets, there is only one way to describe them…ENERGETICALLY CONTAGIOUS! Not only is his multi-styled music selection perfectly blended but when you look at him in the booth, he smiles, he winks, he points at you, he makes such a connection with you, you would think he is dancing right beside you! Inspired by the uplifting vibe and free spiritedness that was the San Francisco Rave Scene in the early nineties, Jerry watched closely and listened intently to the music that was being played. More importantly House Music spoke to his soul. It made him move and feel a way he had never moved or felt before. In 1999 Jerry found himself in Kansas City DJing the Retro bar at the Cabaret Complex. Since then Kansas City he has seen the big clubs that provided a decent house vibe close and with them the minds of the younger gay community to House music. Missie B’s, Jerry’s regular Saturday night residency is now the only venue that you can go to feed your House Music hunger, and even there it is at times under-appreciated. In hopes of bringing back that uplifting “free to be” feeling, DJ Jerry Griffith and Missie B’s have created a monthly party called “Evolving Saturdays” in hopes to “evolve” out of the rut that Kansas City has become unfortunately complacent with. Jerry has also found himself to be the one of the only DJs in Kansas City to have international success being booked at such events as Morning Party-Spain, White Party-Amsterdam, White Party-London, New Years Eve 2008-Puerto Vallarta, Return to Oz Party-Puerto Vallarta, Fireball-Chicago to name a few. He has also had success in earning residency gigs in Cleveland at the late “Grid ‘n Orbit” and his latest and most exciting (for him) guest residency at Hydrate, Chicago! Until recently, before meeting Ryan his new partner in life, Jerry has made this journey almost entirely alone, self promoting, driving 8 and 12 hours simply to spin a half hour or hour set, playing gig after gig for free, volunteering his music and time all in the hope of attracting the attention of the “right” people. It seems that all the sacrifice and struggle is starting to pay off. Jerry is now regularly featured on the same marquis as Ralphi Rosario, Chris Cox, Roland Belmares, Tracy Young, and Kimberly S. to name a few. Keep a look out for him. He will be looking for you!
