Born and raised in North Jersey, Billy Mantani has been creating music since his childhood days on the guitar and piano. A second hand mixer, two turntables and box of records began his journey into the world of DJing, remixing and now production. Influenced by the classic sound of Danny Teneglia, Billy Mantani began his future in the house music industry in 1998. Too young to attend most clubs in NYC, he began accumulating records with the few dollars that he was making and decided to recreate his own atmosphere and that of his friends who were just as young. Spinning from his basement to friends house, from the street to underground clubs, the sound of Billy Mantani opened the eyes of avid club promoters and venue owners. Soon, his basement sets morphed into hair raising sets in 1998 at Club Abyss and the streets became NYC’s hottest clubs. His love for the music made him a regular at these legendary NYC clubs where quickly developed friendships, a strong professional network and eventually found himself spinning along side DJs Merritt, Edie Biaz, Mario Ochia, Chriss Vargas, A-Luv and so many more super stars.
The NYC club scene welcomed Billy with open arms as he was featured at clubs such as Show, Discoteque, Shelter, Exit, and Gypsy Tea. After only a few months Billy was honored as resident DJ for the “Uranis” Party at Temple, the sister party to “Asseteria”; today’s longest running house music party in NYC, Asseteria has been home most major DJ talent both local and international.
Taking some time off for production, his new love, Billy befriended founders of Extreme Rush, Ele and Danielle Kauderer. His production alone took them by storm, but when Billy was convinced to get behind the turntables once again and join a team that would take him to new heights, he became a performer that would soon shake up the global scene. Coming back with a still spoken about performance for SKIN NY, Billy was soon playing at Pacha London, Artesian Wells and other venues in England. Playing side by side with International super stars, Billy gave a new definition to what he thought “DJ” meant. Coming back from an amazing tour with Extreme Rush, Billy was offered a residency at Boston’s Underbar, a venue that is known for its worldly talent. Soon, being offered to open for DJ Sasha, Billy’s career began moving in an unstoppable direction.
Today Billy can be can be heard as regular at Assetria, coming full circle in his accomplishments, on the SKIN Party music rotation, on the Pacha NY rotation, at Underbar Boston, Club Roam NY, Pacha London and has earned a place in the 2010 WMC that will be spoken about for a long time. House music is ready to feel the vibe of Billy Mantani, NYC’s next generation of innovators and creators. Billy commands the music scene creating a new sound so unique it deserves its own genre. Billy’s unmistakable progressive sounds combined with tech house, techno and a sexy vocal undertone are setting the pace for dance floors across New York City and around the globe.
