DVD Release and Other Types of Ill Sh#$

What’s up, everyone? So we’re getting ready for the holidays and have some great treats in store for our fans for the holiday season! First of all, our DVD, “LIVE at the Matrix, 4/20”, has an official release date! The DVD will be released this Tues, 11/25/08. We’re totally pumped about it and hope that all of our fans are too! You will be able to buy it at our shows and from our online merch store! We’ll be introducing it with a special price of $10! This is only a special offer, though, so pick it up soon! Also, we’ll be selling merch packages that will contain the DVD, our CD, “Down the Hatch”, and shirts. Look for the package to save yourself some cash! We will also be releasing an audio cd “LIVE at the Matrix, 4/20” for our fans to buy! Keep your eyes open for that, coming soon!

We also are anticipating our itunes release! These release dates are a hard thing to work with, as much as we try to keep it timely, there are a lot of things that set it all back. As of right now, we are officially being sold on Rukus.com. We will have the link up on our page later this week in anticipation for the itunes official release. Our music will be sold on many a site on the net and we’ll be leaking them out as they come!

We’re also revamping the street team! We have a few things in the works, but will hopefully be reconstructing the street team and are looking for DEDICATED members to sign on board! If you’re interested, email us at the address on our page and we’ll give you the details! Street team members will receive special deals on D.U.I. gear and shows, so it pays to be on the team!

So in closing, we wanna thank everyone who made all of our upcoming events possible. We’d like to thanks THUD films for the DVD and all of their help. We also want to thank our graphic design team, Tacoshell Design, for all of their hard work! They do a lot for this band and we don’t thank them enough! Also, to our A&R, and friend, Mike Admani for all of his hard work on the internet music sales! We couldn’t have done it without any of you! Thank you for all of your support and hard work, it doesn’t go unnoticed! Make sure you order your copy of “LIVE at the Matrix” this Tues, as they’ll go fast and the special price won’t last! Check out our merch store for special deals and other cool items! Thanks again, all! Keep rockin, we’ll see you soon!

New Tracks Up Tomorrow!!

What’s up, everyone? So tomorrow, we’ll be posting some new songs up! One of them is off of our DVD “LIVE at the Matrix 4/20” and is previously unreleased. The other is a surprise to all of our fans. We’re still working out the audio for the 2nd one, so we’re hoping to be able to post them both tomorrow. We’ll give one clue, it hasn’t been recorded yet, but is one of our most popular songs. If that doesn’t give it away, you’ll just have to wait and see.

Our DVD is in the works and we’re looking at a mid to late Nov release. Make sure to pre order your copy on our page! Also, our itunes release is right around the corner, stay tuned for an official date, which should be within the next couple of weeks! So everyone check back tomorrow to see what new tricks we have up our sleeves. Until then…

Did Someone Say "Change"?

So first and foremost, this is not a political blog!! We can’t stress that enough. We here from Devils Under the Influence are not affiliated with either party, nor do we endorse any party. As individuals, we all have our own beliefs and values, but as a band, we are straight neutral.

That all out of the way, the purpose of this blog is to take a look at the presidential election, society, and the music industry. They all tie in together. We hope everyone went out and cast their vote for their respective candidate of choice today. Although we don’t endorse a specific candidate, we do endorse voting! It is a way to let your voice be heard and it’s your duty to maintain this free country that is ours.

So Barack Obama is calling for change. He feels that this country is in need of a change. That is an opinion of one or many, depending on where you fall. We here at Devils Under the Influence are calling for a change too, but not the same change. Society mirrors the times and trends. The economy is in a slump, and that’s a fact. So is the music industry. Not from a drought of talent, or from a financial depression, but from the monotony that is the current state of music. As lovers of all music, we don’t take sides. But there is a noticible void in the rock category these days. Now one can say that it’s a fad, or that rock is dead. We believe the former. We KNOW that rock is alive and well in Pittsburgh PA and that as long as this band exists, rock will not be anywhere close to dead. But it is our belief that people are ready for a change! Out with the old and in with the new! Musical eras come and go, and that’s a fact of life. If you are lucky enough to ride that wave for a lifetime, then consider yourself blessed. That’s a very noble accomplishment. But the rock category is not thriving as it once did. Long gone are the days of Guns n Roses and all of the reckless bands that led that movement. Long gone are the days of rainy Seattle grunge. Now it seems that Emo has taken it’s spot as the main stay genre. That’s fine, but it can’t and won’t last. A lot of Emo musicians and fans might read this as we’re hating on them. We’re not. It’s just a fact. Society is ready for a change. The times will soon be changing and something new is on the horizon. We don’t know exactly what that might be, but we’re gonna throw our hat in the ring! The point of all of this is that, if you’re ready for a change, if you want to hear raw, rock music in it’s purist form come back into society, then vote D.U.I. in 09! We know that this isn’t a political race, or that we’re not winning or even elected for anything. We are campaigning, though! We’re campaigning to all of the rock fans out there who want to hear our music and like minded music all over the place again! We need your help, though. Much as people support their favorite political candidates, we need our fans to support their favorite bands! And this isn’t just about us, either. There are plenty of bands out there that have the same idea and similar sound as us! They need your support too! Even if it’s just leaving a comment to know that you support them, PLEASE DO IT!! The reason we make music is to give people something that they can relate to, listen to, and make them feel an emotion, whether it be good or bad. And if we’re doing this job well, we wanna know! And we wanna get as much support as we can! The more fans we have behind us, the more we can make a difference! We’ve heard many a person say that we sound like “good old fashioned rock.” What does that mean? That we’re an oldies band? No, it means that a lot of people out there need to hear that music again, and we’d like to be a part of that! So if there’s anyone out there who reads this the wrong way and finds it condescending, arrogant, or downright rude, tough. It’s our opinion and we’re entitled to it! You don’t have to agree or like it, but it’s ours. It’s the foundation that this band was formed on and it’s one of the reasons we do what we do! So if you’re like us and are done with slitting wrists, and hearing about how Stacy dumped Tom in study hall, stand up! Say something! Be proud to be a rocker at heart and know that this all won’t change until we change it, one fan at a time!

We also want to use this day of patriotic duty to honor one of our own. As many of you might know, our bass player, Thump, is a Veteran. He served this country in the United States Army and was over in Iraq defending our liberties before joining this band. We want him to know that we don’t ever take that for granted or overlook his service to us. This guy selflessly put his life on the line to defend our freedoms and he deserves our thanks! So feel free to post a comment to Thump for his service and from all of us at D.U.I., both band members and everyone else who works tirelessly for this band’s success, we thank you, bro!

So we hope everyone who reads this either agrees with us or gets totally pissed off! It’s our right to do what we wanna do and we’re gonna exercise that right until it hurts! Watch out in 09, D.U.I. will be sweeping out the old and ushering in the new, with all of the real “rockers” right behind us!

D.U.I.

NEW TRACKS UP TODAY!!

So in anticipation of the release of our new DVD, “Live at the Matrix”, we’re gonna be posting some of the tracks from the DVD on our site today! There will be 2 tracks posted, 1 never before released! The only place you’ll be able to hear the tracks is on our site or on the DVD! So check them out, and if you like the tracks, you’ll LOVE the disc! You can pre order your copy from our page by clicking the link. Also, there will be a trailer coming very soon so everyone can get a glimpse of what the DVD will be about. So keep checking back, as we’re very excited about the upcoming release. Still no official date yet, but we’ll be announcing one very soon! Stay tuned…

Just a Reminder...

So how is everyone this fine Thurs afternoon? We’re doing just fine, as we’re getting ready for a busy October and Halloween season. Lot’s of Halloween parties to attend, lots of costumes to see, lots of beer to drink, and lots of fans to rock with. That’s our October in a nutshell.

The purpose of this blog is to inform everyone just what all we have going on out there. We know that are fanbase is very diverse and scattered, so a lot of our fans can’t make it to our shows. That’s why we have a lot of our stuff available through our site. We have all of our tunes available for anyone to download, and they’re very inexpensive too. If you go to www.xiie.net/devilsundertheinfluence or just click the link at the bottom of the page, you’ll be taken to our mp3 download site where you can download any of our songs from both of our EPs.

We also have a merch store where you can purchase our t shirts, tickets, and any other items we have for sale. You can get there by going to our fansite at www.freewebs.com/duifansite (you have to copy and paste the link, as for some reason myspace has difficulties with it) and going to the merch store section. We strongly encourage our fans to order a t shirt and show that you’re behind one of Pittsburgh’s hottest up and coming rock bands! We love to see our fans rocking our shirts! Also, keep checking our merch store as we’ll be expanding our merch line in the very near future.

We also have a DVD coming out very soon! Live at the Matrix 4/20 is a set we played at Faded Fest back in April of this year and is one of the best sets we’ve ever played! It will be available soon, and we’re taking pre orders now. Since a lot of people are skeptical as to what they’ll be buying, we’re going to be putting up a trailer of the DVD on our site for people to check out. It will be a short little teaser, but will give an idea of what to expect from the DVD. We are really excited about the DVD, as we think that our fans will really love it! It’s especially good for fans who can’t make it to our shows due to their location. It’s the closest thing to being at a D.U.I. show without actually being there! So make sure to check it out and pre order your copy now! We expect the 1st pressing of them to go quickly, so don’t miss out! We’re shooting for a late October release, so stay tuned!

So we wanna stress that there are plenty of ways to experience D.U.I. without even being present at a show. All of these items are readliy available, and we hope that are fans take advantage of them! Buying our merch, songs, etc is also a great way to help support us! We know we have a lot of fans out there, so feel free to show your support for us by getting our stuff! The mp3’s are very cost efficient, so be sure to check them out, as it’s a very good way to support us without breaking your bank! You can get our whole new cd, “Down the Hatch” for less than a dollar at the aforementioned site. That’s a steal! So however you do it, be sure to get your hands on some D.U.I. gear!

D.U.I.

Expanding in Every Way, Shape, and Form!!

What’s up, everyone? We hope all has been well with everyone as it’s been a little while since our last blog. A LOT of things have been happening for us, in all walks of life, so we’re gonna take this time to catch everyone up.

First and foremost, as you all knew, Junior’s wife was pregnant. The key word there is was! On Tuesday, September 30th, at 12:59PM, our family expanded! We’d like to welcome Paige Barbara Carson into the world and into our D.U.I. family! She’s a beautiful baby girl and both mommy and baby are doing just fine! They’ll be coming home today and we’re sure Junior needs a day off. We also want to commend the new father, as he came out to play at Hundred Acre Manor with us last night. That’s a f@$ing soldier right there (where’d that statement come from? Lol) So from all of us in this band and crew, we wish Junior and his new family nothing but the best.

Back onto band matters, we were supposed to be laying low for the birth of Junior’s daughter, but it’s in our blood to work. So we’ve still been busy! We’ve been hosting a Battle of the Bands at Kopec’s which has been going very well. We’ve met some new, talented bands throughout doing this and are very happy to have made some new friends (and enemies!) The finals are coming up this Sat and we can’t wait to see who will take home the prizes! It’ll be very fun to watch! We want to wish both finalists the best of luck and hope you all come out shredding!

We’ve also been booking some SERIOUS shows! We just played Hundred Acre Manor last night and would like to thank Mike and all of the staff there for having us out and treating us so well! You guys are all pro’s at what you do, we’d love to come back and see you all again! A slight sidebar to last night, Junior is very afraid of haunted houses we found. I wish we had a camera, as I’m sure it would’ve made for a great album! I won’t divulge too much, but as I’m typing this, I still have tears in my eyes from laughing! It was a VERY fun night! You know I love you, bro! We’re playing The Fright Farm at Rich Farms tomorrow night, and look to be scared to death again! We’re now booking out of state shows too! We have some shows lined up for Ohio and West Virginia right now and have a few for NY and NJ in the works, which we’ll announce as soon as they’re finalized! We can’t wait to take our mayhem on the road! We’d like to thank our A&R and friend, Mike Admani for making these shows a reality for us! Since having you aboard our team, we’ve been reaching highs at a rapid rate! We won’t stop until we’re at the top, buddy!

We also have some new merch in the works. One of them is a D.U.I. Live DVD! This is footage from our show at Faded Fest on 4/20 at the Matrix. We wanna thank Faded Industries and Thud Films for all of their hard work to make that DVD possible. It’s a really incredible set, with over an hour of songs from us. A lot of them have been released, a lot haven’t. So this is your chance to see what we’re like live without ever having to leave your house, plus hear some of the songs that our fans have come to love at our shows! Some of the songs that are on there include “Hangin” (of course), “Feed Off the Pain”, “Malice”, “Mine to Own”, and “Hypocrite Regime” to name a few. We’ll be announcing an official release date soon and will also be taking pre orders via paypal. Stay tuned for more info on that! We’re also expanding our clothing line! We’ll be introducing some new shirts here very soon, made especially for our female fans! We love to keep the ladies happy and think that they’ll love what we have in store for them! We also want to thank everyone who has checked out our fansite! We want to encourage all of you to swing by, sign the guestbook, and have a look around. You can get there by clicking the link on our page, going to the bottom of the forum list, and clicking on “fansite”. It’s a pain in the ass to do it this way, but we’ve been having some difficulties with a certain website and links. So until we get it straightened out, please bear with us.

I could go on for awhile here with all of the great things that’ve been happening to us, but I’m gonna call it. I think I hit the important ones and we’ll keep you all posted as the good news rolls in. We wanna take this time to thank our friends, fans, and family who put up with our shit. There have been many sacrifices made for this band and don’t think we don’t know that. We know that without a lot of you, our band wouldn’t be possible. If you’re reading this and think that we’re talking about you, we probably are. We won’t list names, as I don’t want to overload my poor computer, but there’s a lot of you. So here’s to you for helping and supporting us in what we do! Thank you so much! And to all of our fans all over the place, we love all of you too! We’ve been getting some very nice compliments lately, and it means the world to us! We strive to make the best music for our fans and to know that they notice and love what we do, makes us love what we do that much more! We have the best fans in the world and are grateful to have every single one of you!

So until next time, take care all of you. We look forward to seeing all of you at a show soon! And we look forward to meeting all of our future fans too! Keep Rockin everyone!

NEW FANSITE!!

What’s up, everyone? So today’s the day! We’re letting some pretty big cats of our bag today. 1st and foremost, today is the day we unveil our new fansite! This site will be a one stop, D.U.I. shop for everything you could possibly want to know, have, hear, or see. It has a merch store link (that works) so all of our tickets and merch is just a click away now. It has a gig schedule, so you can stay up to date on where we’re at and when. One of the coolest features is a D.U.I. forum where you can post about anything you want! There’s a section to talk to us directly, there’s a fan section, news section, etc. I could go on all day here, you’ll have to see it for yourself. The link will be posted up today, so be sure to look for it and swing by and visit. Be sure to sign the guestbook too! We can’t wait to see what everyone thinks about the new site, as we’re pretty pumped about it. Let us know what you think! Here’s the link: http://www.freewebs.com/duifansite/

Also, we’re announcing 2 new show dates for Oct. We’ll be playing Hundred Acre Manor’s Haunted House on Oct. 1st and the Fright Farm in Smithfield on Oct. 3rd! These are 2 huge events for us, so we hope to see a lot of our fans out and supporting that night. We’ll be hangin out afterwards too to check out the haunted house and join in the festivities, so don’t be shy, come by and say hi! As you can see, Oct will be a busy month for us, and we’re looking forward to every minute of it! Don’t forget, we’re now running our open stage at Vi’s in Vandergrift on Wed nights now. So if you wanna break up the monotony of your week, come down, drink and jam with us! We’d love to have ya!

So in closing, we wanna thank everyone who’s really been pushing us hard these past couple months. Our A&R, Mike Admani. Without him, half of this stuff wouldn’t be happening for us. Tacoshell Design, you guys have been doing great work for us, we really appreciate all your help. Fans and friends everywhere, you all keep us going. Your constant support and love is what makes us look forward to the next day. This isn’t an easy business whatsoever. Anyone who thinks it is, you try it. But with fans like ours, even the hardest times are nothing, and the great times? Well, it’s unexplainable. We love every single one of you. Please keep your love coming!

On a side note, at a recent show, we had a fellow who wanted to get fresh with Thump. This schmuck thought it was cool to try to start a fight while we were playing. Now there was a whole debate on who started what, but this guy came up and hit Thump while he was playing. He was bombed and had his beer muscles kicking. He thought Thump was hitting on his wife, which he clearly wasn’t. There was no need for that. We don’t try to start anything with anyone. We don’t pick fights with our fans (unless you’re an * like this guy) We just go out, get fucked up, and play music. That’s it. So in regards to this *, all we gotta say to you is this: You better hope we don’t see you again, douchebag! Next time, we’ll make sure Thump f@#$s your wife!

Much love!

Break Time!! Also, Get Faded Fest Tix 40% Off!!

Hi everyone! Hope you all are doing well and enjoying the onset of fall, football, and the money spending season. We’re just beginning our 3 week downswing for Sept/Oct. We’re taking some time off from playing shows for awhile while Junior has his baby. So what are we going to do to entertain ourselves, one might ask? Well, we’ll be busy with so many other things, it won’t seem like a break at all!

First of all, as many of you already know, we’ll be starting our Battle of the Bands competition this coming Fri at Kopec’s. All the bands schedules are listed in our blog, if you haven’t read it, please do it soon! We’re looking forward to doing this, as it’s a great chance for us to give back some of the good things that’ve come our way. We can’t wait to meet all of the bands and hear all of their music! It’s a 3 week competition, so we’ll still be out listening to music.

Also, we convinced Junior to play Faded Fest again this fall at the Matrix in Station Square. It’s on Sept. 28th this time and we’re gonna be there in full effect! Even though it’s right in the middle of expectancy time, we still can’t get this guy to slow down! You can buy our tickets online at our merch store. The link is www.devilsunder.webs.com You’ll have to copy and paste it, but the tickets will be on there for you to purchase, only $10 a piece! It’s an all ages show, so be sure to let everyone know so they can have a chance to come see us!

We’ll also be busy with our new Open Stage Nights at Vi’s in Vandergrift, which are now on Wed. It’s still FREE to come down and jam out with us. We provide all the equipment, you bring your own guitars. NO EXCEPTIONS!! This will be going on every Wed in Sept and starts at 9:30. Don’t miss a chance to break up the week with some beers and tunes!

So you see, break time isn’t exactly how it sounds around here. That’s our idea of slowing down. Not very slow, huh? More like a rolling stop at a stop sign. Oh, also there’s some new things brewing on the horizon! We have a tentative itunes release date! We don’t wanna disclose it quite yet, we don’t wanna be that band who pushes release dates back. When it’s set in stone, you’ll know. Also, we still have a fan site in the works. A few more finishing touches and it’ll be ready for unveiling! We also have a show up our sleeves for the 1st week of Oct. We’re not releasing any details yet due to tentative changes, but make sure you’re available that week. Think Devils, think Halloween. That’s the only clue we’re giving, damn it! Also, be sure to sign up for our newsletter. Anyone who signs up for it and sends us a copy of our newsletter back to our email address will be able to purchase Faded Fest 4 (Sept. 28th) tickets for 40% off! That’s a great deal considering the only thing you’re giving for the discount is a monthly slot in your inbox to us! Also, newsletter recipients get discounts on shows, tickets, merch, etc. So sign up on our main page NOW!!!

Well folks, that’s about it for now. Gotta go stock up on the Captain Morgan and other party accessories, as break time means time to take it easy!! We hope to see you all soon at one of our upcoming appearances and keep rockin!

D.U.I.
