What’s up, everyone? It’s been awhile since our last blog, and a lot has been going on! We’ve have a lot of updates to inform all of you on and some great news to share with our fans!
First and foremost, we signed a development deal with a new indie label called Moiko Records! It is not a total record deal, but could lead to one depending on how we do in the development period. We’re very excited to have this opportunity and look forward to doing well for Moiko! They have an excellent community of artists and are very family oriented. Very soon, all of our music will be available EXCLUSIVLY through the Moiko website! So anyone who has not gotten a hold of our music thus far, this will be the place to do it from here on out!
A little about Moiko Records. They are an up and coming indie label that is focused on making a name for themselves and their artists. One of their first projects they have undertaken is a collection of charity cds that they are now selling on their website. These cds vary in genres and all contain music from a bunch of different artists. All proceeds from the cd sales go to the charity each cd represents. There is a blues cd, a rock cd, a country cd, and others as well! They are very affordable and are for a great cause! We strongly urge anyone who likes music and donating to go swing by and pick up a track, or the whole album! The site is www.moikorecords.com and you can purchase all of the cds from this site. Along with this, Moiko also hosts an internet radio show weekly that features music from Moiko artists and interviews as well. Listeners can call in and discuss matters and talk with the artists as well! Moiko is an excellent label and is geared towards the artist and their success, not just making money.
We ask all of our fans to swing by the above site and visit the artist community, where you will find Moiko artists and other artists as well. It is a social community that welcomes anyone with open arms. Please check it out, and find our page. Make your own page and befriend us! Leave us a comment, check out the other artists, listen to some new music! There is an artist for every taste at Moiko and we’re sure you’ll find some kind of music that blows your skirt up! We need all of our fans’ support over at Moiko, so don’t wait! Go now and check us out and show us some love so the Moiko community knows that we have the greatest and most suportive fans out there! It only takes a second and who knows, you just might meet some other artists that you will fall in love with as well! The more of you that come over, the more our label will grow! We hope to see all of our Ourstage fans over at Moiko!
Changing gears here, we have some big, new plans for 09, and really think that this year will be a strong one for us! We’re gonna be back in the studio sometime in the next few months and will have a new cd with all new material for all of our fans to enjoy! This one promises to be even better than the last one and we can’t wait to get in there and get the ball rolling! We also are looking to revamp our street team this year. Our street team needs some solid leaders and individuals who see and share our vision and are willing to help us go get it! If this sounds like you, drop us a line, and we can give you all of the details! There are many perks to joining, such as free merch, tickets, and other cool stuff! Also, if you sign up in the next month, you will be eligible to get your hands on our new cd BEFORE it’s even released! That’s not a bad deal! It’s easy work to do in your spare time and the payoff is well worth it! So if you’re a D.U.I. supporter and want to see more of us, sign up for the street team and help be a part of the next big rock band to come out of the great city of Pittsburgh! We’re currently lining up shows for 09 as well. We’re taking it easy for the first couple months, but will be back in full swing come spring! We’ll be playing at all of our favorite venues and some new ones as well! So if you haven’t caught a live show yet, here’s your chance! We always have a fun time at our live shows, and we want you to be a part of it! Keep checking back at our schedule to find one near you!
These are just some of the things we have in store for the new year! All of our fans and supporters helped put us on the map last year and we hope that this year will be even better! We have a ton of new songs to showcase for everyone, we have a new label, and will soon have a new cd! We’re amped about the start of this year thus far and we only plan on making it better as the year rolls on! Thanks to everyone who has played a part in D.U.I. over the past year! You know who you are and we appreciate all of your help, love, and support! We’ve made many new friends and fans and are grateful to have every single one of you standing behind us! Without you, this all means nothing! So we hope that all of our fans come check us out at www.moikorecords.com under the artist community section and show your support over there as well! This year is gonna be a big one, make sure you’re a part of it! Keep rockin!
Much Love,
D.U.I.

What’s up, everyone? So tomorrow, we’ll be posting some new songs up! One of them is off of our DVD “LIVE at the Matrix 4/20” and is previously unreleased. The other is a surprise to all of our fans. We’re still working out the audio for the 2nd one, so we’re hoping to be able to post them both tomorrow. We’ll give one clue, it hasn’t been recorded yet, but is one of our most popular songs. If that doesn’t give it away, you’ll just have to wait and see.
Our DVD is in the works and we’re looking at a mid to late Nov release. Make sure to pre order your copy on our page! Also, our itunes release is right around the corner, stay tuned for an official date, which should be within the next couple of weeks! So everyone check back tomorrow to see what new tricks we have up our sleeves. Until then…

So first and foremost, this is not a political blog!! We can’t stress that enough. We here from Devils Under the Influence are not affiliated with either party, nor do we endorse any party. As individuals, we all have our own beliefs and values, but as a band, we are straight neutral.
That all out of the way, the purpose of this blog is to take a look at the presidential election, society, and the music industry. They all tie in together. We hope everyone went out and cast their vote for their respective candidate of choice today. Although we don’t endorse a specific candidate, we do endorse voting! It is a way to let your voice be heard and it’s your duty to maintain this free country that is ours.
So Barack Obama is calling for change. He feels that this country is in need of a change. That is an opinion of one or many, depending on where you fall. We here at Devils Under the Influence are calling for a change too, but not the same change. Society mirrors the times and trends. The economy is in a slump, and that’s a fact. So is the music industry. Not from a drought of talent, or from a financial depression, but from the monotony that is the current state of music. As lovers of all music, we don’t take sides. But there is a noticible void in the rock category these days. Now one can say that it’s a fad, or that rock is dead. We believe the former. We KNOW that rock is alive and well in Pittsburgh PA and that as long as this band exists, rock will not be anywhere close to dead. But it is our belief that people are ready for a change! Out with the old and in with the new! Musical eras come and go, and that’s a fact of life. If you are lucky enough to ride that wave for a lifetime, then consider yourself blessed. That’s a very noble accomplishment. But the rock category is not thriving as it once did. Long gone are the days of Guns n Roses and all of the reckless bands that led that movement. Long gone are the days of rainy Seattle grunge. Now it seems that Emo has taken it’s spot as the main stay genre. That’s fine, but it can’t and won’t last. A lot of Emo musicians and fans might read this as we’re hating on them. We’re not. It’s just a fact. Society is ready for a change. The times will soon be changing and something new is on the horizon. We don’t know exactly what that might be, but we’re gonna throw our hat in the ring! The point of all of this is that, if you’re ready for a change, if you want to hear raw, rock music in it’s purist form come back into society, then vote D.U.I. in 09! We know that this isn’t a political race, or that we’re not winning or even elected for anything. We are campaigning, though! We’re campaigning to all of the rock fans out there who want to hear our music and like minded music all over the place again! We need your help, though. Much as people support their favorite political candidates, we need our fans to support their favorite bands! And this isn’t just about us, either. There are plenty of bands out there that have the same idea and similar sound as us! They need your support too! Even if it’s just leaving a comment to know that you support them, PLEASE DO IT!! The reason we make music is to give people something that they can relate to, listen to, and make them feel an emotion, whether it be good or bad. And if we’re doing this job well, we wanna know! And we wanna get as much support as we can! The more fans we have behind us, the more we can make a difference! We’ve heard many a person say that we sound like “good old fashioned rock.” What does that mean? That we’re an oldies band? No, it means that a lot of people out there need to hear that music again, and we’d like to be a part of that! So if there’s anyone out there who reads this the wrong way and finds it condescending, arrogant, or downright rude, tough. It’s our opinion and we’re entitled to it! You don’t have to agree or like it, but it’s ours. It’s the foundation that this band was formed on and it’s one of the reasons we do what we do! So if you’re like us and are done with slitting wrists, and hearing about how Stacy dumped Tom in study hall, stand up! Say something! Be proud to be a rocker at heart and know that this all won’t change until we change it, one fan at a time!
We also want to use this day of patriotic duty to honor one of our own. As many of you might know, our bass player, Thump, is a Veteran. He served this country in the United States Army and was over in Iraq defending our liberties before joining this band. We want him to know that we don’t ever take that for granted or overlook his service to us. This guy selflessly put his life on the line to defend our freedoms and he deserves our thanks! So feel free to post a comment to Thump for his service and from all of us at D.U.I., both band members and everyone else who works tirelessly for this band’s success, we thank you, bro!
So we hope everyone who reads this either agrees with us or gets totally pissed off! It’s our right to do what we wanna do and we’re gonna exercise that right until it hurts! Watch out in 09, D.U.I. will be sweeping out the old and ushering in the new, with all of the real “rockers” right behind us!
