Daysahead
Formed in 2003, Atlanta-based Daysahead continues to chart an innovative musical course that weaves jazz, rock, and soul into a unique, melodic and at times hard-driving sound coined as “Jazz-n-Roll.” Founded by guitarist Steve Wright (Richmond, VA), and vocalist Kim Leachman (Baton Rouge, LA), Daysahead is primarily a guitar/vocal duo with rhythm support (bass & drums). Daysahead’s debut CD, titled Turning Point, boldly builds a bridge between jazz, rock and soul. Since its release, Turning Point has received critical acclaim in the U.S. and abroad. Daysahead was nominated BEST DUO/GROUP of the year for the 2006 SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards & nominated BEST BAND and BEST ALBUM of the year for 2007 RockWired Awards! The band’s video of their breakout single “You Move Me” is currently being featured on BET Jazz “Soul Sessions”, as they received encore airings of their live videos of “You Move Me” and “Falling Flower” on TBS STORYLine Soundstage. Contributing musicians on "Turning Point" are bassists Myron Carroll, Jeff Smith, Aaron Clay and drummers James Barrett and Joe Lee. Current personnel also includes bassist Brandon Gilliard. Daysahead has opened for national and international recording artists including Al Green, Roy Ayers, and Angie Stone. The band has played major festivals including the Atlanta Jazz Festival, Bayfest Music Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival, National Black Arts Festival, Capital BBQ Battle Fest, Richmond Fine Arts Music Festival. Upcoming performances include 2008 Capital Jazz SuperCruise II (Bermuda), Jazz In The Garden (D.C.), Harborfest (NY), Live! On Woodrow Wilson Plaza (D.C.).
