Darwen’s Theory, a San Fernando Valley-based band, has been playing together for over ten years. Now working with a new line-up, this rock-metal band has quickly made a name for itself due to the experience and diversity that each member brings to the songwriting. With influences ranging from Joe Satriani, Pantera, Metallica and Primus, Darwen’s Theory is a collaboration of many styles.
Spanning three generations of musical influence, the band has created a unique heavy metal sound with crushing rhythms and melodic bass. It’s no wonder Los Angeles has embraced Darwen’s Theory, thriving on the band’s explosive raw sound!
The band has won “Best Valley Band” three years in a row, with awards won by the drummer Paul Rankl in 2005 and 2008 for “Drummer of the Year” by RockCity News. Their latest show, at Paladino’s in Reseda, California, was a hit, opening for national act “Carbon 9” and gaining a new fanbase as well as releasing their first demo.
Darwen’s Theory is now in the studio recording their full length CD, scheduled to be out in winter 2009 / early 2010. While in the writing process, the band is auditioning for a vocalist and seeking professional management and represenation.
