Daisi Rain is an East Tennessee/Southwest Virginia based country band that has passion and youth on their side. Isaac Asimov once said,"I write for the same reason I breathe - because if I didn't, I would die." That's how Daisi Rain feels about playing music. It's as necessary as the air they breathe. The band members range in age from 15-19 and this coupled with their infectious personalities give them an edge many bands simply can't formulate. Cameron Brown, the oldest of the five-piece, takes the lead guitar duties with influences ranging from Jimmy Page to Keith Urban. Playing since the age of 11, Cameron strives for excellence in sound and diversity. Chris Kelley holds down the bass line and has connected well with the audience with his laid-back country humor. He enjoys all genres of music and some of his main influences are Tully Kennedy (Jason Aldean), Timothy B. Schmidt (The Eagles), Geddy Lee (Rush), and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin). Amelia Brown is the youngest of the bunch and she takes up the fiddle spot with foot stompin' vitality that brings a special dimension to Daisi Rain's down home flavor. Her top three influences are Alison Krauss, Jimmy De Martini (Zac Brown Band), and Charlie Daniels. She started playing fiddle when she was 12. Donovan Brown provides the beat and occasionally plays a little harmonica. He is influenced by John Bonham and Randy Van Patten on drums and Robert Plant for harmonica. Donovan also plays piano, works to find the harmonies for songs and works as the bands sound engineer. He has a gift for hearing what others take for granted. At the front of Daisi Rain stands Laken Loupe. Laken has a 3 1/2 octave range and she can sing everything from tender ballads to raucous rockers. She joined Daisi Rain in early 2010 and with this final piece in place they have not looked back. Laken has the ability to enter the characters of the songs to draw in the audience in an intimate way. Some of her favorite singers are Martina McBride, Jennifer Nettles, and Carrrie Underwood. Daisi Rain played shows in 2010 ranging from fairs, benefits, and festivals to the legendary State Street mural stage. Their setlist consisted of mostly cover songs ranging from the fifties to current radio hits and a few originals thrown in, Over the winter they started working on a handful of originals and went into the studio in February of 2011 to record a three song demo at Dark Horse Studios in Nashville. The experience was the next step in achieving their dreams. Seeing gold and multi-platinum records for the artists they have looked up to and followed for many years has inspired them to be the best they can possibly be. Cameron says of 2011 that they are "…gonna make darn sure that we don't hold anything back musically this year." As the lead song from their demo confidently touts, "the sky's the limit, I can't take another minute to fly… Catch me if you can, I got me some big ole plans." So look up, you might see Daisi Rain. You better grab your umbrella.
