Daboi aka Whit G was born as Wyatt Hunt, May 12, 1986 at Ingles hospital in Harvey Illinois. Until Daboi was able to go to school he was raised by his grandparents on 63rd and Vernon on the Southside of Chicago. When Daboi was old enough to go to school he moved with his parents in Country Club Hills Illinois. His parents didn’t want him to go to school in Chicago so he stayed with them on the weekdays for school and stayed with his grandparents on the weekends. As a result of this Daboi developed a very well-rounded personality. Also at a young age he became very popular from being known in 2 separate locations. Daboi was forced to grown up very early in life. His father passed away when he was only 9 and that forced him to stop being a little kid and be the man of the house. Even though Daboi has 5 siblings (3 older brothers, 1 older sister, and 1 younger sister) being the man of the house was put on him because all his older siblings had moved out and already started their families so it was only Daboi, his mom, and younger sister left in the household. So at that time Daboi start developing his hustler’s mentality in order to make sure his mother and younger sister was always taken care of. During this time of depression Daboi got into music. Music was the only outlet Daboi had to express his emotions, so he starts writing raps about different events that he went through in his life and about what he wanted to do in the future. Also around this time he really start getting into hard core rap music listening to early twista, crucial conflict, psycho drama, no limit, and cash money. But on top of all that he was into a wide range of other music like softer hip hop, R&B, and Chicago house music. He emulated all those different styles and genres in his own music making him very versatile. Also in 7th and 8th grade he played the drums making him very good with rhythms and composing. Daboi got the name “Whit” during this time because of his name being Wyatt a lot of kids pronounced it (why-it) and somehow they dropped the “y” sound and just start calling him “Whit” Daboi went to Rich Central High School in the south suburbs of Chicago. When he came into high school Daboi maintained his popularity because all the kids he hung with from his neighborhood were a lot older than him. So when he was a freshman he hung out with all senior and junior making the fellow freshman and sophomores want to know who he was and why he always hung out with the older kids. Also he was dubbed with the name “Whit- G” from hanging with members of the Chicago based gang GD for so many years. Until high school Daboi was very shy about his music. A lot of people didn’t even know he rapped. Usual at school a lot of people would still crowd around him though because on top of rapping Daboi was very good at beat boxing. So he would always be the one making the beats while other rappers crowd around rapping or battling. Also because of him having a past in drumming he was good at making beats with his hands or with a pen against pretty much anything he could bang on. Slowly over time Daboi start noticing he was as good, if not better than most of the rappers at his school. That gave him the courage to start showcasing his talent so he start participating in the “cyphers” and rap battles giving him a reputation as being a rapper, which gave him the name “Daboi” because he started most of his raps like “Da boy got money, Da boy so hot, ect ect”. This made people start calling him Daboi because he said it so much they thought it was his new rap name. While still in high school Daboi moved from Country Club Hills and start living in various places in the south suburbs giving him even more popularity and recognition. He stayed in places like hazel crest, Park Forest, Richton Park, University Park, matteson, Robbins, Lansing, and Chicago Heights until he finally found a new home in Harvey Illinois. Daboi moved to Harvey his senior year of high school so he was able to stay at Rich Central and he did just that and graduated in 2004. After graduation Daboi wanted to go away to college at Alabama A&M University for track but the scholarship they offered him was not a full one and financial aid wasn’t going to cover the rest so he had to settle and go to an in state school. He finally decided to go to Chicago State University because he didn’t want to be downtown and they was going to let him bring his car to campus, so once again Daboi was back on the South side of Chicago. His college years are when he really started deciding he wanted to do music seriously, even though his major was Psychology. He spent his first year in college hard in the books and came to a realization that he really didn’t want to be nothing but an entertainer. During his first year, because of his cute boyish look and confident personality he had became a big hit with the ladies on campus. On top of that because of his flashy style and the expensive cars he drove he was noticed by the fellas too. Daboi decided his second year of college to use his popularity to his advantage when it came to his music career. So he start beating all the local rappers in the school in rap battles to show he was the best on campus and then start entering in showcases, talent shows, and open mics to perform for the students to broaden his exposure. Soon Daboi start going to the studio and recording his songs and passing them out all over the school gaining him even more popularity. Before you knew it Daboi was doing shows all around Chicago, the suburbs of Chicago, and all the big Universities in Illinois building a name for his self on the local Chicago hip hop scene. But even with all that it was still hard for him to really get any notice on a bigger scale. At this time Daboi decided he needed some type of segue to get into the music industry. So he starts getting into more behind the scenes work. He got a job at the Chicago State radio station WCSU as a Disk Jockey and later got promoted to head of promotions and program director. He started his own show called THE CHICAGO SPOTLIGHT which was all about giving Chicago music a chance to get heard. So he went around collecting music all around Chicago in the south, west, east, and north. He even collected music in the suburbs of Chicago and some parts of Indiana all the while networking with other local rappers and getting his name out in the streets. Also during this time he got to meet a lot of big celebrities and get his name out on a larger scale than just in Chicago. Daboi did radio from 2006 till 2008 all the while making a name for his self as a Rapper, radio and party DJ, Host, music producer, musical engineer, song writer (Rap and R&B) and entrepreneur. But as time went on Daboi started getting frustrated with the music industry and ran into some big financial problems so he left Chicago State University and WCSU. He picked up a couple jobs and later picked up a couple hustles to get his self out of his financial bind. He put music on the back burner. He starts living a life of fast money fast cars and fast women. He starts hanging with local drug dealers around Harvey and other surrounding cities and got mixed up in a lot of illegal activities. He wanted to stop but the money was coming in so fast that he was addicted, till one day in late 2008 he was arrested for possession of stolen merchandise and then later in early 2009 he was again arrested for possession of an illegal substance. Daboi had hit the lowest of lows. All charges against him where thrown out (because of his good lawyer) but he had no income no car and barely a place to live. So he had to start all over. He went out and got a job and registered for school at the local community college (South Suburban) and start rebuilding his life from there. After he finally got his life back stable, by the summer of 2009 he was ready to get back in music again but didn’t know where to start. One day he randomly got in contact with his nephew (D-Phaze) and they start talking about music. Daboi knew D- Phaze rapped from days they used to rap together when they were adolescents but didn’t know how talented he was or how serious he was about his music. So one day Daboi went and hung out with D- Phaze and his D- Phaze’s friends and came to realize that his own nephew was a very talented rapper. Not to mention D- Phaze had accumulated quite the following and had assembled his own crew G.O.T.G (Get on the Grind). Daboi was very impressed and wanted to start collaborating with his nephew immediately. So that night Daboi, D-Phaze, and SMG aka Sheed Munn-e Gwallaboi (a member of G.O.T.G) went into the studio and came up with the hood bangers “BITCH I’M ON” and the dance anthem “POP IT”. That night they knew they had created magic together and decided to come together to form the super group DDS (Daboi, D- Phaze, SMG). Also Daboi became a part of the crew G.O.T.G, over the summer DDS developed a big buzz online and in the south suburbs of Chicago but the group as a whole wasn’t exactly seeing eye to eye when it came to direction so they decided to put the group project on hold and focus on each other’s solo projects along with other crew members of G.O.T.G solo projects and a compilation G.O.T.G mixtape. At that moment Daboi decided to get back in the studio and start recording his official debut solo mixtape MULTI-DIMENTIONAL, due to be released summer 2010. In Feb 2010 Daboi released his first official single off the mixtape SING 2 HER which has been an instant online hit and got 1000’s of downloads in its first week of being released. As of now Daboi is currently still recording his debut mixtape and is doing shows all around the Chicago area to promote his single and build buzz for his mixtape. The single is generating a lot of attention around Chicago and he is slowly becoming a much known name in Chicago and soon will be a big name known around the world.
